Help Me Find A PC Case

51 14 November 20, 2022 at 10:49 AM
Sorry if this is a lame question, but it's been several years since I built my current PC. I'm just not up on things anymore. I need to move my stuff into a new case. I have a Asrock Z77 Pro 4 Mother board, a GTX 660ti graphics card. Not sure about the power supply. Can someone recommend a case that will work with this old technology, one that may be on sale for a good price...TIA

Most any ATX case should work, just make sure all the standoffs are in the right locations.
Some cases are a smaller form factor like mini or micro atx, those won't work. Things like font panel USB would be one of the main things that may not work as new cases will mostly be USB3.

You may be better off putting your money towards a new PC. This is after all a 10-11 year old computer.

Thanks I will be buying a new PC this Thursday, but wanted to keep this for the older games and software.

If you really want a new case you're probably going to pay more than they used to, I haven't seen deals like I used to but then again with the sales coming up maybe you'll get lucky.

If you want USB 2 ports on the front panel you might need to get a hub, but newer ones may not even have external drive bays from what I have seen.

I think Newegg has some older models though, are you looking for cheap or looking for a better looking case? Upgrading or just replacing for basic functionality? It seems like $40 is about as low as it gets these days.

What they can accommodate for 2.5" or 3.5" HDD/SSDs could also matter to the OP.

I've never built a custom PC myself, but maybe this cheap clearance tower from Gamestop will work for you.

Unfortunately it is only available in store and their stock locator is messed up. So the only way to get it would be to find it in store.

Did you see the price in your local store? Edit: 27.98, it wasn't displaying on the product page for me but searching the category and sorting by price brought it up.

Looks like they specs aren't that accurate either, I don't know why they'd say USB 1.1.

That other Cooler Master one for $30 might accomodate this board though, might be one at a local store that isn't showing in online inventory.

One of my local stores had one sitting on the sales floor. The marked price was $50 something so after the 50% discount it would have been $20 something.
