Pease do not mark/report as expired just because it is out of stock.
We do not need a new thread every time it is in stock again.

Stock gets replenished, they were out of stock in cambridge (boston) as well but then again in-stock for a few days and now oos again.

The Houston store has it in stock this time when it was OOS last time. Doesn't hurt to keep trying to check back if you're looking for one.

FWIW

I used it in an external enclosure.
While write speed is ok the read speed is weirdly slow...
Attachment 12454384

Compared to the silicon power 1tb p34a60 in the same exact enclosure in the same laptop/same type c port.
Attachment 12454387

Unless there is a better deal on a 2TB drive I might keep it... but I am not sure...Sacrificing speed for storage space...

You are better off looking at Random access numbers - those look similar.

Crazy good price for a very low end SSD! Should work for lots of people just fine - don't forget to backup to magnetic spinners since flash is mostly unrecoverable if it dies!

I disagree. At least in my usage scenario (using as external drive) where I might be transferring large files back/forth so sequential is quite important. Same could apply if you use it as an internal storage drive.

Great deal for me, I got a 1TB HDD to store games, music and movies that's already 5+ years old and running out of space. It's still working but I'd rather let it retire with dignity than have it die on my watch. This would be a big upgrade.

SSDs die very quietly, so remember to backup early, and often. A crappy magnetic disk will still keep bytes even if the mechanics fails, SSDs - not so much.

You should dig around a bit more. Try to figure out which chipset it has with the VLO utilities:
http://vlo.name:3000/ssdtool/ (just copy/paste this manually)

The 1TB is $50. Wish it was $40 since it's half of the storage haha

And the 500GB is $30

These are QLC which are less preferred to TLC for video editing. But I believe for the price, it's not a concern.

The question is with reliability and support.

Reliability is on how crucial your data will be. This only 400TBW. Others would have at least 1000TBW. 400W is fine for 5 years though.

Though with video editing, using it for installing apps would be pretty okay. But for copying/storing your stuff, I'm worried about the sustained write speeds and there's hardly any reviews. The DRAM is yes or no also. Try to scour Amazon reviews for this.
Ive Had a few SSDs since 2014, ive done youtube videos, editing, a scratch disk, over 1000 vids. The highest TBW on any of my SSD's is my main boot drive, its at 65 TBW over 5 years. 400 TBW is More then enough for the VAST Majority of people, it will not be an issue for most people as a game drive or even a video editing drive TBH.
