I would like to hear other's thoughts on this comparison as well.... I purchased the 49WQ95C-W on the recent Best Buy deal. I wanted it for productivity more than gaming. I have to say it seems to be great for both. While I am more of a casual PC gamer, the immersion is really impressive. I also really like the USB-C input and KVM switch built in. From a productivity standpoint, this screen size has been a game changer for me. The curve on the LG is subtle but effective.
I ordered the standard G9 through Microsoft. The Microsoft Store offers free returns until January 31st 2023. That will give me a couple months to make sure the display is issue free. First time ordering through the Microsoft Store so I can't comment on the quality of the customer service. The other thing is that Microsoft is offering free expedited delivery. Expected to deliver this Wednesday!
I know Amazon is pretty flexible too and if you have the card, you can get additional money back. If there were a choice, I'd get it through Amazon just for peace of mind as I'm pretty sure that I'd be able to return without much of a hassle if it didn't work out.

The aspect ratio may not be supported by the games you play. Some games may stretch too wide and look worse than intended (e.g. Heroes of the Storm - https://ibb.co/mS3yxNt). Other games may fill out without stretching but won't render things correctly outside of the "normal" resolution (e.g. Diablo 3). So resolution support can be hit or miss, which can change the overall experience. But like I mentioned above, I keep "unsupported" games centered and then have my array of other windows/applications surrounding them. (https://ibb.co/SBJ063t)
It is immersive though. You can really get into the games when your field of vision is completely encapsulated. It's like VR but not VR, if that makes sense.
It's exactly how I wanted gaming to be. You just might have to tinker with some settings before finding the sweet spot of your preferences.
Oh, and you'll need a pretty beefy gpu if you're wanting the best gaming experience. And you'll need a very deep desk or the expensive mount. This thing is HEAVY, which requires some crazy long legs for the stand. If your desk isn't deep enough, you might be annoyed with how far the legs come out to support its weight. Mine is all the way against the wall (with a slight part of the base even off of the desk), and the legs still stretch out to my mousepad.
I use my G9 almost exclusively for sim racing. The width of the screen along with the height I have it gives the cockpit view a very natural and immersive feel. The screen sits roughly 22" from face which gives allows for a wide fov.
I used to use an AMD RX-590 and averaged mid 50fps to low 60fps @1440p in pc2 and ams2. I currently use 3070 ti and have the frames locked at 120fps.
This monitor is huge and heavy. Two downsides are the real estate it requires or the nearly $400 arm that will hold this thing up and out.

Samsung - 240 Hz
I intend to buy a new GPU to replace my 2080 and it looks like 240 Hz is the way to go with 1440p.
