I miss the days when you could get this for $20-ish.

I miss the days when you didn't have to renew for three years even more.

I despise this year-to-year software as a service mess these companies pushed many of us into.

Mine expires 5/23. Can I buy it and put it on the shelf until then and then use it to renew, or will it expire?

I sort of agree because subscriptions mean security updates but I do not subscribe to 99% of them.

As long as you're within 6 months of it expiring, you can renew. So wait until 11/24 and you can apply this to your subscription.

Last year's price, based off of several Hot Deal between Dec - Feb, was a little lower. History points to this being offered lower within the next 3 months. I'm good till 5/23 so I am rolling the dice.

What I have done in the past is to let it expire---then install the new one 3 months or longer after expiration. This works great if your bank allows 3 months or more of downloading. The past 3 months (or more) will all download and you end up with 15 months out of 1 yr. It depends if you need to monitor and use it every month or if it's basically for end of year reporting.

You can check on your banks websites and see how many months it will download into Quicken.

Yeah, earlier this year when I purchased, these were the prices (from the SD alert I received):

Quicken (Physical) Deluxe $26.99, Premier $37.99, Home & Business $49.99

This seems like a lot of work to save a few dollars. Presumably you don't use the data in real-time and just keep it for historical purposes.

I used to do that, but they started to cover half the screen with a banner you can't remove if you don't have a current subscription.

For those looking to renew an existing subscription. Here are the rules from Quicken. So you can buy activation code now, and keep it until you are withing 6 months of the end of your current subscription. I am on the fence about pulling the trigger, though. If the activation code doesn't work next October when I go to apply it, I doubt seriously Newegg would give a rat's tail.

How long can I extend my membership plan?
A membership can only be extended in the last six months of a subscription term. Therefore, multiple terms cannot be purchased and used at once to extend a membership. Retail purchases: Activation codes expire 24 months after being generated.

Be careful buying some of these. I went round and round with Best Buy last summer after the software code I bought could not be applied to an existing account. I gad to wait until the current subscription ran out and sign up under a new email. They would not give me a refund even though the site didn't specify it was for new users only

Just use a different email, I have multiple emails, I buy the new users deal every year under the email that I'm not using on the current subscription.
