let's take our best selling living room keyboard k400, add ugly yellow colors to it and call it plus, and also discontinue our backlit keyboard with trackpad (k830) at the same time.
also let's ignore the top reviews on logitechs own website of customers BEGGING for them to bring the k830 or k400 original back.
Pro's
Incredible battery life
Great range
Extremely reliable and long lasting
Just the right size
Cons
-trackpad kinda sucks, but i've searched hi and low for an alternative and can't find anything.
-aweful for gaming
The perfect keyboard for your computer hooked up to your TV so you can use on your couch. (Can't use a normal mouse while laying back on your couch)
Had it for like 7-8 years now. I use it so often I would pay $300 for a better option but there is nothing that I can find.

2. Older model had 4 special keys; apart from the F-Keys row. They just work with Linuxmint and can be customized. But more keys are not the biggest issue. It's the other things. I might use the power button for "sleep"; but it's almost as fast just to shutdown LinuxMint and just turn it on again.
3. Why not BT compatible? My USB plug-in thing went out and I had to use my old one from a twin, broken, Logitech KB matching this. The weird protocol for the USB receiver had to be reprogrammed; by special software to match it and work. A royal PITA.
4. Mine had the top row of F-Keys only when holding the blue Fn first. I'd say you want one the other way around. Or better optional. Looks like they just stopped making the special keys instead. I use the volume up and down keys all the time.
5. If you don't know, besides being ideal for your TV media computer from the couch; what you do is hold your Left thumb on the top left key on the entire KB to actuate the mouse Left-click key and use your right thumb on the mouse pad to steer. Very comfortable; that way. You do not have to use the left mouse click under the pad. And the right click under the pad is easy though. You can effect a middle click too; by hitting both left and right clicks at the same time.
6. A very low power back light would be great for typing in the dark TV room..
7. The 2 AA battery life is acceptable; but why not make the KB rechargeable and longer battery life between easy, fast charges?

They make other similar compact keyboards minus the trackpad that are blue tooth that work great, but cost $30.
Bestbuy has a microsoft bluetooth mouse for 11.99 right now

If they brought a new k830 back now, no one would buy all of the surplus k400 plus keyboards they have.
Logitech's marketing team knows exactly what they're doing. The K800 was released in 2010 and the MX Keys just dropped this year; a 12 year gap between updating their full size illuminated wireless keyboard. I'm not expecting as big of a gap as this, but they're going to release another one.
My K830 lasts months without recharging. You're out of your element here.
So you're completely right I was out of line! The battery only lasts 37 times longer.
