Metro has the $50 for iphone 11 deal, which is worth 525 trade-in value at BB. All you need to pay is $50 for iphone 11, $60 for one month service, and $20 activation fee.

I did this at a corporate store. I tried with $40 plan first, they refused, and I did not insist. They then tried to charge me $10 insurance. I refused and showed them the official website. They insisted for a while, and gave up finally.

You can get a $50 gift card after three months of service, which I found not worth it. Instead, I immediately called to downgrade to the $30 plan. They cannot refund me the difference, but the credit carries on for the next month. So you paid 130+tax for a iphone 11 and two month service.

I went on to trade in the iphone at BB for pixel 7 pro. The total cost is 225+tax. In some states, the total 525 is tax free, but in other states, only 350 is tax free, and the rest 175 is treated as a gift card. So depends on your state, you either pay 225+tax, or 400+tax-175.

Finally, I called Metro to transfer the line to the new Pixel 7 pro, since I cannot do it online for some reason. The rep was trying to charge me $20 for doing that. I argued it makes no sense since I am not activating a new line but simply want to switch a phone. The rep gave up. I was able to use the esim for the Metro line.

Is the iPhone 11 unlocked? Can you cancel or terminate the line right after the trade-in?

Great deal, but there's no convenient corporate store... does this work at an authorized dealer?

Yea, that seems to be correct. I just tried to port in an H20 Wireless number and they turned me down.
Why? H2O Wireless is AT&T affiliate right?

No it's NOT unlocked, it's done after 180ish days automatically unless you screw up by putting metropcs SIM card into different phone during that time or system glitches and doesn't count the days right (doesn't matter for trade in though). You don't need to cancel anything since it's prepaid service so as long as you're not using CC and select autopay you won't get charged for following months and eventually line will be cancelled and number released to numbers pool to be used by someone else (I think it's around few months of line being inactive).
You also pre pay the first month anyways so it would make more sense to keep it till last minute in case some good port in deals come up for another company.

Dang. You're right. Not sure why then. The MetroPCS store manager said it's only ATT, Verizon, Boost, and some others.

No, yes but not much point doing so since it will be already pre paid for first month anyways.
You can keep it as port out number for a month or two if you downgrade the service.

You can get the iphone 11 from walmart for $200, without dealing with metro.

In case you haven't dealt with Metro previously they can do all kind of shady stuff. Like call to verify that you had previous carrier for 90+ days, blacklist from buying if you did lots of previous deals that were cancelled after first month (might be related to that specific location), and there are others, for example if you try requesting multiple devices they can refuse it as well by simply citing that there's an issue with processing your ID. Honestly I would say getting refurb from Tracfone or Total when they had them would have been the simpler and easier method IMO bit now it's too late for that I think since they won't have them in stock.

Any way to do it for 128GB Pixel 7? I'm getting a message that it's not allowed because the trade-in is more than the phone. I don't want to pay more for 256GB or pro though...
try changing the condition of your tradein phone and see

My nearest Metro by T-Mobile didn't have IPhone 11 in stock so I bought Pre-owned IPhone 11 from boost with porting GV(out the door price was $175 including $3 fee I paid to google voice for unlocking number). traded in with Best Buy for $525 and bought Pixel 7 pro for $255.92(I'm In Illinois and as OP said I was charged tax on $175 trade in gift card but not on $350 promotional credit. To summarize I paid $175 + $255.92 = $430.92 which I think is a steal for Pixel 7 pro

OP got lucky. The Metro store should not have ported from TMobile.

And most of us with only dealers will likely get royally screwed.

Move along... there's nothing to see here.

"Excludes phone numbers currently active on T-Mobile or active on Metro by T-Mobile in the past 180 days."

Did this today at authorized dealer - no issues. ADs just do more upsells.
The more difficult issue is finding stock as many stores are not receiving iPhone 11s.

Could you please advise on how much did you have to pay in total? Were you taxed at the full price?
