Maybe it's just incredibly badly designed, but my current cheap adjustable Target Braun clipper gets semi-irritating when it doesn't stay locked on the adjusted setting — where you move the guard either up or down. Maybe those dial ones are better. Needed something inexpensive years ago when my other incredibly cheap one died.

No kidding. I have had mine for about 3 years now and literally have charged it maybe 3 - 4 times and I use it twice weekly
Have you tried holding the power puttin down for 5+ seconds? That works on mine.
