There is nothing inherently wrong with a plastic tub. Plus, it is 300 installed with a 4 year warranty. This is same type of person that complains on laptop threads about cheap devices not having ssd or a better gpu.
My plastic tub kenmore dishwasher is going strong after 20 years

. In my experience, 10 other things will break and wear out and be beyond it's useful life long before the plastic tub will become an issue. I only had one non plastic tub and use heat dry and average probably 6 loads a week.

My must have for a dishwasher is a mulching type disposer and not just a filter. To my that is the single most important option.
mulching type disposer - which make, model would you say?

Not sure how this one stacks up, buy I needed one and for 499 I get the install and haul away. Would have gotten this 299 one if it was in stock

That's a plastic tub too. I've not seen a good stainless steel tub below $600 lately.

Just purchased a dishwasher from Samsung.com. They want to charge me $205 for install and hall away... I plan to install the dishwasher myself and I will haul away my old one myself.

Paid $635 (regular $999) but I do have 3 shelves, door opens automatically after wash and it is true stainless steal. It is for a rental and while and I feel I will get more value from this deal... having a stainless steel inside is a must.

PLUS... plastic tub and a regular price of $849 to me is BULLSHIT fake marketing. AND it is sold out.
Which model?

Not up on current models. Look for "disposer" or "hard food disposer" vs filter when comparing models. Food flying around or eventually coming to rest in a screen filter design and hanging out there until you clean it instead of getting broken up and moving down stream is a compromise and a shortcut to save some money in design and to advertise a quieter machine. Again, just a compromise. A screen style filter can be okay but it's effectiveness can only approach a disposer styles effectiveness. Imagine a screen trap that you may use in your kitchen sink. Always nasty stuff in there and you always have to clean it out. Those onion pieces, corn, hard pieces of burned whatever, grissle, and peas are not going away until you remove them.

Even the remaining GE models with the hard food disposal have a filter basket as well. The filter basket actually leads to a cleaner wash. The only dishwashers recently with just the hard food disposal were the GE and Hotpoint mechanical dial dishwashers, which were discontinued earlier this year. They had a plastic dome grate that covered the pump and drain assembly that prevented large food from passing through. Then there was a secondary insert grate under that. Then there was a panel screen before anything entered the pump assembly. To full clean the dishwasher for maintenance purposes or b/c it wouldn't drain slowly, it would require the owner to remove the washer arm, a bolt, and slide the mechanism up and off, and a screw driver to remove the dome grate, reach back into the basin, remove the grate insert, and manually agitate the panel screen with your finger. That was a giant pain in the ass, albeit done infrequently b/c scalding hot water and detergent enzymes for the most part breaks most things down over time even stubborn bits of food. The twist-lock filter filter basket, introduced by Bosch, was a godsend for ease of maintenance.

Also for the record, the "pirhanna" hard food disposal is for chopping up the food during the drain cycle so it doesn't clog the dishwasher drain line and household plumbing. Nothing to do with the wash cycle

Is that GE model available in costco? Because home depot charges 230 for installation and 40 for removing old dishwasher.

No, and none of the Costco ones seem to have the disposer. $154 for installation and $40 for install kit at home depot. Time to youtube installation videos!

Folks ever figure out if this fits in a "standard" dishwasher cutout (~24" deep) or does in fact require a 27" depth cutout (vs is 27" deep with door on and what not) -

Anybody have this delivered and installed yet?

Mine is expected to be delivered tomorrow.

I'm also wondering if this can be used as a standalone appliance in the basement like a washer or if it needs to be installed within a cabinet setup?
