This is actually higher end than Shure SE846's although the Shure's were more popular for their addictive bass. The W80 has enough bass unless you're a bass head and is actually a better balanced IEM, way less fatiguing, and more comfortable for long hours of use. It's a shame that they didn't sell well at its MSRP, and now it's only at $400 which is just a steal. I remember buying these initially when the first version came out at full MSRP $1500 and thought they were really good, and later bought again at $750 which I resold because I had too many IEM's. I'm debating to get these at this price to make it a traveling IEM, but my AirPods Pro 2's are also way too convenient to not use. FWP's lol

Looking at the UTWS5 right now, didn't even know something like this came out. I'm still using the BTR5 for wireless, would you say this has similar quality sound? I'm using it specifically for home theater or console gaming use, and don't mind having a wired IEM connected to a wireless device. AptX adaptive is also not really supported for a lot of the BT transmitters out there, most of them use the AptX HD or LL, which the BTR5 supports. I used to use the Qudelix-5K, and thought that the sound quality was better than the BTR5, but had to return it because the AptX Adaptive wasn't supported in these devices.
I wouldn't say better sound quality than BTR5. But the dac on it is getting real good and it's getting additional support through updates. My phone doesn't have Aptx-adptive either so I ended up getting a usb dongle for aptx-adaptive that i regularly plug into my laptop, console and mobile devices. I actually have a Qudelix5k as well, in addition to my regular go-to Zen CAN/DAC combo. While I do love using qudelix especially via 2.5mm balanced, I end up using UTWS5 much more often. It's simply much more convenient especially since it has wireless charging built in. For your use cases though, I don't think you need it yet. There's a rumor UTWS7 is coming out soon so fingers crossed.

Or these flagship AKG N5005s for $200. 5 drivers, plus "filters" and an optional BT cable (to use with some inexpensive IEMs?). Orig. retail $1,000. Not many reviews, but I pulled the trigger. Free returns until Jan 31. Am I a dope?

N5005 are good if you have ears that fit em well. Biggest complaints about n5005 were comfort and fit issues, not sound quality. It's got Harman curve tuning, better for fun sound vs flat, balanced sound. I do suggest spending a little extra for a pair of Comply or Azla ear tips that fit you well though. If the fit is not good, you will feel like the sound is very hallow with mediocre bass. Getting a complete seal with a good fit is especially important for these IEMs

I tried the W60, W80-V3, and the N5005 because I couldn't find enough info to make a choice. I can confirm that what's been mentioned already is pretty accurate.

W60 sounds pretty good but nothing really crazy. They are noticeably warmer and have more bass than the W80. I think $200 is an accurate price for them.

The W80 does sound cleaner and has more space though, I think it's a little easier to listen to than the W60 but probably not worth twice the price. The W80-V3 and W60 are both the same size and very comfortable.

N5005 not as good a fit but still very comfortable. I also think this is the most enjoyable to listen to of the three. Most importantly you can sometimes get support to give you a discount code for these on harmanaudio which brings them down to $160. The extra discount makes this an easy choice for me, N5005 is a great earphone for general use/gym/etc.

If you want something nice to just sit down and listen to then just wait for the Moondrop Blessing 2 again. It dropped to $240 on AliExpress during BF. Much better deal than all these made up Adorama prices.

Thanks for the info and I've repped you for the thoughtul response. I'm taking a screenshot of your replay so that I can apply what you said when I get 'em. A little concerned 'cause I like a neutral sound (I don't generally like AKG over-ears, but these appealed to me partly because of the included "filters" that claim to allow for modding the sound. I figured between that and some EQing, I can get them sounding great to my ears? But the filters might just be a gimmick. We'll see). Thanks again for the tips! Applause

With a little EQing and a different filter, you can definitely make em more flat sounding. No worries.
