The 8GB plan I've used the last year or 2 is on sale to renew for $220 through Red Pocket, so I'll go that way.

I still feel this deal, while not as slick as years past, is better than most alternative plans for phones without large family or group plans. Had 2 lines for the last 4 years and the 5-8gb each has been plenty and cheaper than traditional options.

I have a question. The plan is for 360 days so you have to pay twice a year to be active. 365 would be different. Is this really a deal compared to other plans from other providers if you add in the extra cost because it is not yearly.
I'm guessing they do this to make it more difficult to get the black friday pricing every year. Kind of pain for those looking for bargains. But this year the sale pricing isn't as good, so it doesn't matter as much.

Just left REDpocket after many years 4x lines. Buyer beware for me the ATT network network change this year was a major headache and when your out of data your not just throttled but no data at all. Even without the network issues customer service is a joke long waits, uninformed agents and language barriers.

Beware the term is 360 days not 365 so wait a few days to catch next years sale for renewal. Also no leniency for being a day outside 90 day sim kit expiry. Between the juggling new sims to fix network issues lost one line and received no flexibility for a multi year customer. Its in the terms so to be fair it was my fault but considering the nightmare and lost service they could have been more flexible.
I will also add in my case, it stopped working one day all of sudden. Contacted CS, did 2 hours troubleshooting, still not working. I was 10 months into my one year service, so gave up on them, switched to another provider. This was my backup phone so not too much trouble on transfer information part.

Plus standard taxes and fees on phone service, which for me in WA state added up to $240. However, eBay adds sales tax to your purchase, so unless you are in a state that doesn't charge sales tax, the $220 is still a better price, even after taxes/fees.

I also appreciate the OP's historical comparisons. No need to blow smoke and try to shill a product. People here will sniff it out. This may still be a decent deal. Or it may not be. Now, at least, we have some data to make that decision.

FYI: For new customers/new lines, their pricing for annual plans on their website is actually better.

https://www.redpocket.com/plans/a...%25+off+BF

3GB for $150
10GB for $198
25GB for $300
100GB for $375

But this is strictly for new lines. It will not work for renewing.

As a 3-year customer, all the issues others mention are real. When it works, its fine, but getting it all working right is more trouble than I have ever had with any other cellular service.

And if you need any kind of customer service to fix problems on their end it is a coin flip as to if you get someone who knows how to fix the issue or how to get ahold of someone who knows how to fix the issue.

When their system shut off my service 15 days early it took 4 calls before anyone said anything but "sorry, you must be wrong" even when their own website showed my renewal date was 15 days away and my account history showed the activation was 345 days prior.

Just understand what you are getting into before you pull the trigger. This is not some big telco that offers a generally streamlined experience.

On eBay if renewing life hack: set your address to that nice vacation P.O. Box you've always kept in Oregon and just maybe you won't have to pay sales tax

Thanks for the instructions!

Has anyone tried this yet? If so, if you're already on an annual plan that expires in say a month or two, will the new year 1 year plan automatically go into effect once your current one year purchase expires? The website seems to indicate it will, but I don't trust them. I remember in the past, reading from others then if you add the new one year plan to your account now, you lose all remaining days left from your old plan. Can anyone confirm how this renewal is setup after going through the process?

TIA!

I can only comment on the eBay plan as a renewal. If you renew with EXACTLY the same plan it has simply extended your renewal date. If you renewed with a different plan you would lose all remaining time/allocations under the previous plan and the new plan would have an immediate commencement date. I have utilized the 1GB plan for several years now, and while I wait as long as I can (until the activation codes scheduled expiration) it has extended my paid-thru date by 360 days.
