You might get lucky, just understand they have 999 in stock, always 999 in stock. They are 3rd party vendor on Amazon too.
They could be "cool" but it gets hard to tell if it is shill or not.
I thought about buying from them, but I slept on it a few days, and I just get got bad feeling about it.
If I was in this business, I would try to have people come to SlickDeals to promote my stuff and throw some money or "free drives" if they increase business.
Since these all get "reset" to show clean smart stats , problems may not show up until you get to the 19tb portion of drive, and then disk crashes.
Data miners, and big companies have thousands of these drives, and they under constant hard work 24/7. And when they go bad, send them to WD or Seagate under warrenty. We have NO IDEA about any of these drives, all data/smart stats are scrubbed. If it said "this drive has 250,000 hours and was used for data mining, would you buy it?

The warranty is through the seller and has a 2 year warranty for replacement.
Go buy a brand new drive OEM or a Enclosure to get a 2-5 year warranty through Seagate. You will pay on avg 50-80 bucks more
A seller who claims Refurb like all the ones on amazon and newegg are 3rd parties who checked the drive and give you a 90 day warranty. They do not have the ability to erase the smart data ,
and fix anything mechanical on the drive itself.
Never heard of Seagate ever selling REFURB HDDS lol. These are RECERTS from seagate completely checked and in some cases better than retail due to all the checks they go through before shipping to this vendor. They sell hundred or thousands a month , go on the website and read the reviews , they are reputable
Just a single example: "They do not have the ability to erase the smart data"
That is misinformation being used instead of actual evidence. YOU could NEVER know this to be a FACT. NEVER. Yet you irresponsibly espouse it anyways in lieu of actual evidence to support your flimsy claims.
FACT: buying recert or refurb carries inherent risk.
Next, a buyer decides whether they are comfortable with the risk or not.
The recert process is tested more than retail drives that are considered new. 2 year warranty is more than enough to determine if the drive will fail all while saving over 100.00 more than retail. There is no risk buying a recert with a good warranty and especially if you have a backup.

"does not indicate any relationship, sponsorship, or endorsement between SPD and the owners of these trademarks"
They clearly state they have no affiliation to Seagate and are INDEPENDENT.
Again, you say: "There is no risk"
Man! You are REALLY pulling for this nobody company.
Being independent and non-affiliated with Seagate means they can rightfully or wrongfully claim anything, with you not ever knowing the difference = RISK.
If this was direct from Seagate, it would be much less risk. READ: Seagate is a reputable, well known entity. SPD is not.
I am not opining whether or not to take the risk. I might. But I read through this thread, and see you keep schlepping, willing to say anything, in favor of this company, true or not true.
Calling you out.

They are not a nobody company like you say if mods put the company on the fp for weeks
So, I stand by my assertion, that you, your words, are not to be trusted. You are spreading misinformation. Look the word up so you know the definition.
Oh, mods! I see. That makes it a fact?
There is no way you are that gullible.
You are shilling.
Quit spreading misinformation.

I do find it I interesting that all my drives except this one are new and this recert shows an error count of 1 after just a week in my rack.
Considering pulling it for a firmware update but not sure if it's even worth it. Will be keeping an eye on error count. Will report back in this thread for anyone interested. If the drive goes south quickly and the others stay healthy I would think it's safe to say I've been had.

Wow. Sounds like we got suckered on this one. Definitely need to note this seller as a problem. Shame as they did pack them well. These drives must have been beaten in. I'm not eligible for a firmware update so I decided I would go ahead and run parity on this drive which will take several days. After that will check smart data again and report back.
I'm still pretty nervous about this purchase, because at this point they're hosting most of my personal data, but so far it looks like I was lucky. We'll see how I feel in 6 months though.
