let's compare apples to apples. first off you're using points. second, you're comparing 2 different cities than what i posted . pvg (shanghai) to la. one way? when?

i mean like, i can say i went to tokyo for $425 nonstop once.

Dang, flying from LAX but might be cheaper to buy a separate round trip to SFO to do this.

Literally comparing two different departure and arrival destinations. And hopefully you paid 36,000 for RT else that's a pretty bad redemption.

Also, hope Cathay sticks around - unfortunately a lot of politics behind the airline.

If you have amex, check if you have an offer for cathay pacific. I had $175 off $1000 on my gold card. Lot of Asian cities on sale too, and it made my 2 tickets to Japan super sweet, from JFK, for May

A few trips to TPE via SFO. As you enter the US you gotta pick up all the luggage and pass through customs. Quite challenging when traveling with children, heavy luggage and long lines. Missed a flight one time due to understaffed border control lines.
