Literally comparing two different departure and arrival destinations. And hopefully you paid 36,000 for RT else that's a pretty bad redemption.
Also, hope Cathay sticks around - unfortunately a lot of politics behind the airline.
Also, I swear it was around $679 on Cathay for a round-trip between SFO-TPE, with a stop in HK just the other day when I checked for my wife. I know it's not the same route but it's practically the same. I just find Kaohsiung to be pretty boring, plus all my friends are in Taipei.
EDIT: Ok, I guess with taxes it's about $728
