Dollar General has Lowe's gifts cards for 15% off, in store, today only.
The manager of our local store told us that each store only allows 6 Lowe's transactions without locking the system. However, there is a number that the clerk can call, if they are willing to, that will unlock the system again.
We purchased $2,000 in gift cards for $1,700.

EXERCISE CAUTION if you are buying the type which has a peel-off sticker over the code on the back of the card, rather than a scratch-off coating or a paperboard overwrapper. There is a scam where someone will go through through the entire stack of Lowes gift cards in the stores inventory and peel off the stickers, record the gift card info, then replace the sticker.
This allows the scammer to use an automated tool to constantly check the balance of the gift cards, and once the purchaser loads money onto the card, the scammer will quickly spend the balance --- leaving you empty handed. Lowe's and Dollar General are both completely useless for making you whole after this happens; both companies will refuse to refund you. To be fair, there is a ton of verbiage about "no refunds no matter what" from both DG and Lowe's regarding these gift cards.
I've been personally screwed by this before (only for a 50$ card that I received as a gift once). After receiving the card, I did notice that the sticker was a little wrinkled, as though it had been removed and replaced. When I went to the DG to try to talk to them about it, I inspected the stack of Lowe's gift cards on the rack, and I found that every one of them had stickers which had obviously been tampered with (usually by someone scratching up the upper right corner of the sticker, along with wrinkles and slight mislocation of the sticker from their imperfect replacement)
AFAIK this is only a problem with the type of cards that have a sticker over the code, and a lot of DG locations carry the other types.
15% off is a great deal, especially considering that it can be combined with the 10% off coupons or military discount, and I am not at all trying to cast shade on this deal.
But please be careful, especially those of you who are buying thousands of dollars worth of these cards.
Heads up for people who havent been through this deal before:
(this info may be outdated since they've just updated the DG checkout counter recently, however in the past, this is how it worked): You can only purchase $500 on a single card at any single store. (I'm not familiar with smaller denominations, someone else please chime in if you have more details for that). If you attempt to buy more than 1 x $500 at a single store, the register will lock out and tell the employee to contact corporate because of potential fraud. It causes a big headache for the minimum wage worker, don't do that to them. You CAN however go to the next dollar general 5 miles up the road and get another $500 card. Repeat as necessary.
I got 6 this morning and nobody has asked about the type of card to use, while 1 person asked me to verify my ID to the name on the card. I used a CC for all transactions.
If you plan on getting multiple, I'd recommend giving your bank's fraud department a heads up, and they still might lock your card on the second/third store, so be prepared to call them back anyway.
For our military vets, firstly thanks for your service, but also this deal means you get 25% off any regular (and some sale) items at lowes, since this isn't an offer that changes your 10% off discount.
This is today only and only while supplies last, most stores have 20-40 cards on the shelf, some have <5. The sooner you go, the better your chance...although, who really reads the DG flier anyway?
Good luck, this is the largest quantity Lowe's gc at the best discount generally that happens once/year.

I went to 3 today in WA and none of their gift cards are ringing up with the discount. Frustrating. It's right there on the front page of their ads, but they can't fulfill. I need this deal.
edit: no problem using a credit card to buy, however about an hour after the first purchase my bank called to confirm it wasn't fraud.

This happened with the Chipotle gift cards a few years ago. Someone could easily take a picture of the card numbers and waited for it to be activated. The cards had no scratch-off coating and all the numbers were easily accessible. Wrote the company an email. Not sure if they fixed the gift cards.
I'm still seeing so many other various gift cards with the same vulnerability. I'm not quite sure who these companies hired for their security department, but this is an obvious simple costly flaw with as easy fix.
The whole issue is kind of baffling to me. I guess it hasn't become a big enough problem for Lowe's because they get their money either way.
Also for those who use coupon sites like lowesdeal.com, I bought two of their coupons and they both didn't work. I saw on Reddit that Lowe's has gotten wise to it and won't let them through for sale items, which is damn near every item Lowe's has. I tried a 20% movers coupon and a 20$ Lowe's for pros coupon. If anyone knows of any coupons that do work please let us know!
Policy varies per store to prevent fraud
If the medicines and toiletries are locked up, you're probably going to be restricted to cash-only
