Depending on how much you shop at Target annually and your personal cash flow priorities vs need to save the extra % off, you can decide whether to block money in the gc.
If you decide to get in on this deal but also have the red card, you can prioritize to use red card for smaller transactions where red card can get you free shipping. You can select to use the discounted gc for when you're doing store pick up, or 35$+ shipping orders wherein you'd not have shipping charges to deal with anyway.

Last time the physical GCs I bought online has only the card.
Note Chase Freedom is only 5% for first $1500. With black Friday I exhausted that. my last two buys only gave me 1% cash back
