10% off on Target gc means only 5% additional % off for redcard holders.

If you have 5% additional statement credit thru Chase Freedom - PayPal route, you get effective 4.5% extra on top of this discounted gc deal making it 14.5% off, or 9.5% on top of red card discount.

Depending on how much you shop at Target annually and your personal cash flow priorities vs need to save the extra % off, you can decide whether to block money in the gc.

If you decide to get in on this deal but also have the red card, you can prioritize to use red card for smaller transactions where red card can get you free shipping. You can select to use the discounted gc for when you're doing store pick up, or 35$+ shipping orders wherein you'd not have shipping charges to deal with anyway.

Hope it helps.

Just a PSA: if you buy the gift card and load it into your target account wallet, make sure you have 2FA for your account login. I received a $300 GC as a gift and realized as soon as I loaded it in a day someone across the country used my login to buy items instore. Target didn't help when I filed a complaint basically telling me to file a police report before they could do anything. Gift cards are harder to chase down of course compared to credit card. It can happen at any store but target's payment and security sucked up until few months ago when they added 2FA.

Edit: to enable 2FA, go to target.com and into your account settings. You can find information on how to enable it here - If you go to target.com and in the account settings, you'll find an option to set email/phone 2FA. More instructions are here https://security.target.com/FAQs#...20account?

Target recently changed their system to allow you to use a partial amount of a gift card on a purchase, so there's no need to buy multiple small quantities for yourself. I pay for most of the transaction with a gift card and then just a few cents with my Red Card to still get free shipping.

The debate about the value all depends on how quickly you spend at Target. frannyjunk is assuming you spend it all an average of 1 year from now. I think most will spend bunch of it this month for the Holidays so the advice is not sound

If using Discover for the extra 5%, be aware of the fine print which says the digital wallet payment (Google pay, apple pay, etc) must be made from your smartphone, tablet, or wearable.

It does not say laptop, PC, or computer.

I got burned recently by this on a previous purchase.
Good to know, but how do you pay online using Google Wallet from the Target app? Or can you only do that in-store? I don't see any way to do it from the Target app, but I just signed up for Google Pay and Google Wallet so I could get the extra 5% from Discover, so I have no experience using them.

I got in on this deal last time and found myself being a little undisciplined with Target spending. Just a PSA Target is a vortex of marketing genius, YMMV if you do this and buy a bunch of extra stuff!

Ugh rookie move, but it worked last year. Are they cracking down? Just bought a second set of $500 under kid's account but same cc and they canceled it, for 'technical issues'

Edit: and I just tried to reorder using another payment method, and my 10% off offer is 'used' and can't be applied anymore 😡

Can I make several SEPERATE transactions of GCs and use the circle offer until all $500 is purchased or will the 10% offer be lost after first GC purchase even if under $500?

Also does target GC purchase count towards meeting personalized circle offers? (I have purchase 4x $60+ to get $20 bonus)

Reading through thread its seems the 10% is only one-time purchase and these don't count towards circle offer anyways but I wanted to confirm

Sorry for the newbie question, but I've now set up Google Wallet, but don't see any way to pay using it in the Target app. I don't see are option to use Google Wallet in the Target app. So how do I pay using Google Wallet, or can I only do it in-store? Thanks.
Google and Samsung pay work only in stores. Apple pay is online and store

How to use the virtual wallet to buy from target online? I read in an earlier post that the app allows apple pay, but i don't have that and don't see an option for Google or samsung pay either

I'm in the same boat here. I downloaded the Target app on my Android phone hoping to use Google Pay to checkout... but it looks like their app doesn't support it. It may be that to get the Discover deal using Google Pay/Wallet you would have to go in store.

My wife has an iPhone and when she goes to checkout, she gets an option to use Apple Pay. Planning to add my Discover card to her Apple Pay account to get that additional 5% cash back.

Looks like I am making a trip to Target B&M to make sure the Discover 5% using digital wallet goes through as online wallet seems YMMV. Too bad as digital gift cards are easier to use, but I guess I can load the physical cards to my account

If I use a GC for 90% of the order and Red Card for the other 10%, will the whole order still get 5% off?
No. 5 percent off only on the portion paid by red card. But if you have gift card you already assume you're not getting 5 percent value there. My method secures free shipping for small dollar items

Perfect timing! Used Chase Freedom for 5% back via PayPal.

Also, Discover will work too for Apple Pay for mobile wallets 5% back for this period.

This is maybe just a problem at the Target near me, but I've been having an increasing problem with the prices listed on the shelves for some items being much lower than what they ring up at the register. And sometimes they're wrong for literally weeks, even after I tell customer service about it. It has started happening so often that I don't bother even telling them anymore.

Once I went to customer service and the person there kind of dismissively said, "Well, inflation has been bad lately."

Probably just a problem at this Target near me, but it can be frustrating, especially when the increase in price at the register is big enough to negate a 10% discount like the one in the OP.

Not feeling the extra 5% this year (because Red Card) so a free $25 for the $500 loan to Target is meh. Easy pass, despite having the money.
