As chemistries and voltage vary across both battery types and brands, we recommend that you do not mix batteries. Mixing of cells can result in battery leakage and sub-optimal device performance. For best results, replace all batteries with the same brand, chemistry, voltage, and size when the device performance becomes unsatisfactory.

Costco and Duracell have leaked the most for me and I won't by them anymore.
Energizer has given me the least problems. They are on sale at Home Depot 30 AAA or 36 AA for about $15.
Good luck.

I started a thread about a week ago on the HD deal.

Three years old is when they begin leaking in the package. They may hold a charge for 10 years, but will not last that long before leaking.

As far as the warranty, the last claim I made a little over a year ago for several devices came with a long legal document for me to sign. You should not need a lawyer to make a warranty claim on leaking batteries. The new warranty now has a limit on the value of any items damaged. I believe it is well under $20, it used to have no limit.
I have had better luck with cheap off brand batteries than with the Rayovac batteries of late. I did write to the CEO of Rayovac a year and a half ago. I never received a reply.
I am going to try Amazon and Costco batteries and see how they hold up.
Pic is battery dated 2028, used in a alarm clock that leaked within 2 months!!
Also destroyed my Carbon Monoxide/Fire alarm.
Warranty is virtually useless. No more Rayovac for me, at any price.
Not worth it for destroyed devices though.
Rayovac SUCKS now.
