Also - an FYI for those that used TaxAct, H&R Block or TaxSlayer online services in previous years: There is a good chance they secretly sent data about you to Meta\Facebook:

*In previous years there were some abilities you'd get with the physical disk that weren't included in the download copy. I haven't looked this year to see if that is still the case or not

Yes always e-filing fees. Sucks
This year is different though, as the download is Mac/PC, and not separate, IIRC, can activate it on two machines.
As for paying to file taxes, if all you need is a 1040EZ, it's free, but as soon as you do more than that, like owning a home, interest rates on loans, investments, it a) gets more complicated, and b) they (Intuit/H&R Block, etc) won't work with your return on the free version, and they'll make you pay for a deluxe version.

From what I know -- which isnt much, if you sold stocks or any funds and get an 1099-S you need Prem. Maybe other people with knowledge can jump in
Wait, y'all aren't in Congress? Why the hell have I been wasting my time here for.
Want to know as well… do I need home and business edition??
Deluxe will be $25ish between now and Feb. Fidelity also gives you free premiere if you are $1million+ but probably a lot of people aren't there anymore
$1M in a 401k or what?
