Dude poor Fram cannot shake its image I guess. This Fram ULTRA is universally seen as one of the best filters out there at any price. Seriously. Check bobistheoilguy.com. The cheapest Fram orange ones were dissed years ago and uninformed people just remember "Fram equal Bad" and so it continues

Yes and you should understand that the OEM blue Honda filters have been shown to be much more "basic" than these Fram Ultras. They are more in line with the cheapest filters that have cardboard endcaps etc. People often assume OEM = BEST and in this case, not true.

Hey I have bought these for years from Amazon. The Chinese are not doing counterfeit Fram oil filters for 7 dollars. This is not Airpods and Rolexes it is an oil filter

I mean you made the case against yourself already, it's $7 and it takes almost no additional effort, so why not? Also there is always tons of dirty oil trapped in the filter. Even if the oil filter holds up to 15K, I have definitely seen the gasket get nasty after not changing it for a while on cars that don't get tons of miles. Also if you respond to me I am also going to put my fingers in my ears and all I will hear is Honda owners manual bladdity blah blah as well.
But the MANUAL SAYS EVERY OTHER. That's the point. It does take a little more effort and mess. And 7 more bucks. Yes I agree you are leaving maybe a half or 3/4 cup of dirty oil in the filter...not a huge amount vs 4 quarts coming in.

We get it, but what's the point of a filter going 20K if your car cant rofl
BECAUSE YOU CHANGE THE FILTER EVERY OTHER TIME. Like the owners manual says to. oh my Lawdy no, Federal Law says you need to change the filter every time you do the oil. Just like Jiffy Lube Every 3000 Miles too! Must be true

I'm "rolling on the floor laughing" at how this blind spot about changing the filter can persist in your mind

No prob. Yes this only saves a few bucks per filter but on a percentage basis it's not bad and it gets delivered right to you. PLUS I got 4 bucks back from Amazon as a Digital Credit for picking No Rush delivery so now my next movie rental streaming on Prime is free haha

I think both Honda OEM and frame made by Honeywell, but may have different spec

How often are you guys changing your oil these days? I see it mentions 20K miles and that feels like a lot.

FYI 2014 Honda v6 with 71K miles.
Have the 13 accord coupe v6 with 60k miles lol. I go by the OLM on the dash and change every 8 - 10k about. If I don't put many miles on it in a year then every 2 years I just change it. I use Mobil 1 EP or another solid full synthetic. Use this filter and change it every other oil change.

No issues whatsoever on mine, nothing on the drain plug, pulls strong, etc. Get some oil burning but 0w-20 will do that.

IMO the mass perception changes oil WAY too often. Projectfarm and BITOG have a ton of resources to actually look closer and newer full synthetics last a long time. Only issues arises if you take a lot of short trips.

According to my Googling, FRAM is owned by Crowne Group LLC (used to be called Trico and then Crowne Group bought Trico). I did see some things suggesting OEM Honda filters were a Fram product, but then others saying that there were Filtech (Japanese) OEMs and also Honeywell-made OEMs in the US. Said that Fram left Honeywell in 2011? Does Honeywell even make auto oil filters anymore? I know Champion Group makes a bunch of brands. Dunno, maybe someone else knows more

Got the same year accord. Heads up that the model has known issues issues with valve cover gasket going out. Not sure how much oil you are losing between changes but I was over a quart short

This is a pretty good deal for the Fram Ultra. Just know that these are not made like they used to with non wired back. The Fram Ultra of prior years were built like a tank and considered one of the best filter in the market.

Thanks OP for sharing.

If you want your Honda to last, every 4k miles with full synthetic oil
Quote from Adamm345 :
if you want your car to last more than 100k miles or so than you should be changing oil ever 4k or so miles depeding on what you use, don't listen to the manufacturers that say you can go longer, they are using marketing to tell say you need less oil changes but won't care when your engine dies at 100k out of warranty.

Here's a video from a Toyota mechanic detailing on why you shouldn't be listening to the manufacturers oil change recommendations.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T...-O0&t=418s
Obviously everyone can make their own choice but most people go by the Maintenance Minder in their car which will automatically estimate oil change interval, and I would say probably results in 6000+ miles, maybe more if you are doing a lot of highway miles. I would bet dollars to donuts that these engines will last 300-400K miles and the rest of the car will be rusting off the chassis even if you just follow the MM intervals...but if you want to change the oil at 25-30% oil life remaining then it's a free country Smilie

I mean Adamm345....c'mon man....I would guess that pretty much EVERY late model car out there that is running at over 100K miles did not religiously change their oil EARLY every 4000 miles, and by definition how many tales are we hearing about modern engines seizing up and dying at LESS THAN 100K miles.....c'mon man
