Dude poor Fram cannot shake its image I guess. This Fram ULTRA is universally seen as one of the best filters out there at any price. Seriously. Check bobistheoilguy.com. The cheapest Fram orange ones were dissed years ago and uninformed people just remember "Fram equal Bad" and so it continues

Yes and you should understand that the OEM blue Honda filters have been shown to be much more "basic" than these Fram Ultras. They are more in line with the cheapest filters that have cardboard endcaps etc. People often assume OEM = BEST and in this case, not true.

Hey I have bought these for years from Amazon. The Chinese are not doing counterfeit Fram oil filters for 7 dollars. This is not Airpods and Rolexes it is an oil filter

This is a pretty good deal for the Fram Ultra. Just know that these are not made like they used to with non wired back. The Fram Ultra of prior years were built like a tank and considered one of the best filter in the market.

Thanks OP for sharing.
When did this change occur? Just curious.

Four pages and no one's asked if this is ok for their Tesla. It's like I don't even know this place anymore.... 💔

Is your filter on the bottom or side of the engine? I haven't had the need for a filter wrench in some time for my Subarus. Also, for others who may not know, there's no need to cronk down on filters to tighten them. Spin on until the gasket touches, the a turn or so more to compress the gasket. No need for metal to metal crushing!

Obviously everyone can make their own choice but most people go by the Maintenance Minder in their car which will automatically estimate oil change interval, and I would say probably results in 6000+ miles, maybe more if you are doing a lot of highway miles. I would bet dollars to donuts that these engines will last 300-400K miles and the rest of the car will be rusting off the chassis even if you just follow the MM intervals...but if you want to change the oil at 25-30% oil life remaining then it's a free country Smilie

I mean Adamm345....c'mon man....I would guess that pretty much EVERY late model car out there that is running at over 100K miles did not religiously change their oil EARLY every 4000 miles, and by definition how many tales are we hearing about modern engines seizing up and dying at LESS THAN 100K miles.....c'mon man

The video I linked is about a 2015 Toyota that is having to have it's engine replaced at 180k because the owner listened to the owners manual and replaced their oil only every 10k miles at the dealership, jsut don't trust those oil change recommendations, the car manufacturers don't care if your car breaks down after the warranty is up.

The change occurred last summer. They used a mixture of synthetic and cellulose blend media and removed the wired back. The Fram Titanium sold at AAP had the structure and made of the original Fram Ultra and that also is slowly being changed this year too.

Interesting thanks. I haven't bellied up to the Bobistheoilguy bar in a few years obviously. So is there a "better" filter out there that equals or exceeds the original Fram Ultra construction or is Fram just moving along with others to slightly cheapen the design?

Every 3k or 3 months; which ever is first. 2004 TSX st 225k 👌🏾. OEM oil filters are garbage ... These used to be garbage but are trying hard to come back ... For now I run Bosch ... These are better than OEM in most cases.

This brand doesn't have best of reputation in terms of quality, according to YouTube. So proceed with caution, you might be able to pickup bulk oem filter for similar price
Fram ultra is one of the best oil filters in the market, especially for the price. Now fram non ultras, they are questionable

How often are you guys changing your oil these days? I see it mentions 20K miles and that feels like a lot.

FYI 2014 Honda v6 with 71K miles.
20K is a Lot. Even more so if you have VCM on that V6.

My Hondas have maintenance minders. They ask for oil changes between 8k - 9k. Every other oil change calls for a new filter. So a 20k mile filter is perfect for this.

Plenty of people will frown on following this schedule but I've put multiple Hondas past 300k with PP or M1 and these filters. I'm not sure how changing oil or filters more often would really bring any additional benefit for the extra time and cost.

Again nobody is saying you change the OIL at 20K miles. But you can use this 20K filter to run 2 OCIs changing the filter every other time, as stated in the owners manual as perfectly fine and by definition recommended
