I've watched quite a few tear downs of the Supertech's on Youtube and they punch far above their price point. IMO.

The oil gets very black, while my Fram Ultra and/or your Supertech are running all of the oil through the filter media. How can this be? Wouldn't the oil come out perfectly amber golden brown like when you poured it out of the jug? No, because that black is from things like soot. The Fram Ultra reports on its website 99+ efficiency and when you look at the footnote that is measured for filtering objects 20 microns or greater. I see that soot particles are often .01 to .05 microns....tiny!....even if they clump together into larger particles those particles are like 1 micron or something, so 20 times smaller than what the "net" of the filter is catching. So that stuff just passes through the filter and goes around the system. But that is one of the functions of oil in the first place...to hold that soot in suspension and lubricate the system, so that soot doesn't build up in the channels in the engine. When you empty the oil, that soot comes out as it is held in the oil. NOTE that when you drain the oil, there is going to be a coating of that BLACK oil all throughout the engine....so you are immediately going to have some black oil mix in with your new oil as soon as you start the car the first time, whether you change the filter or not. There is just going to be a little more of the black oil held in the filter if you don't change it, but changing the filter doesn't eliminate black oil clinging all throughout the rest of the engine.
I didn't look closely but those Supertechs are made by Champion Labs, and rated 10,000 miles which seems pretty good (not 20,000 like these Ultras, but 10,000 is pretty good). They also advertise 99% efficiency. So probably a fine filter too.

As of right now, it is not showing purchase option for this price... out of stock.
Wow that does suck. I haven't had any issues in the past getting these Ultras on Amazon. I will compare these new ones I get with the last one I have on my shelf and see if I can tell any difference in weight or construction
