I've re-registered my fingers many times, tried different fingers, always the same very inconstant results for both my wife and I. We do have the z-wave version which I doubt has a different scanner in it.
I do like the overall look and functionality of the base keypad lock and would buy it again. I'd avoid the extra expense of the fingerprint reader as it's just too low quality. We have the z-wave (not part of this sale).

(There might still be more of the used $140 models, based on what I see post-order, there as well.)
Yes, it does light up but you have to press "any" button first to light up the numbers.

has the Updated version of this lock (inbuilt WIFI, No WIFI adapter required)
Which one is better ?
That is the biggest downside of these old units. If you don't have a plug near your door you are sol.
I've had mine a little over a year and only replaced the batteries once.
Ezpz, like any other deadbolt

I have and love this lock. Zero fingerprint issues, just you one thumb and register it twice from a ton of angles... I probably replace batteries every 9 months or so, no issue, just use an alkaline battery like Amazon basics...
Auto lock is a game changer, I love it. It's all auto lock and fingerprints for me. Wifi bridge is cool but realistically I've never needed to use it.

I have similar issues with in screen phone fingerprint sensors. Sometimes I have to lick a dry finger for it to work. Could be that or a faulty unit.
