I have used it in the shower several times and it still works great, also according to the specs, battery lasts longer.
TLDR - These new models use single length attachments compared to previous models with adjustable attachments. These make the new models a PITA to use compared to the old models.

Get a Norelco OneBlade then buy the body grooming attachments/kit (it has two guards in it). I've used this for the past 3 years for keeping my junk trimmed and tidy. Works great, extremely difficult to accidentally nick or cut yourself.
