I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be safe… the propane is at the bottom and the heat comes out of the top of the product.
I would just make sure it's secure if you plan on using it in windy conditions.

The electric infrared heater deal seems to be dead. But both types of heaters are common where I live, in a temperate climate zone. I have one of the upright propane heaters as listed in this deal. I am thinking about a second one. Add a lamp oil light for each table (like this: https://www.halofiretorch.com/pro...able-torch, but mine are knockoff versions) and it's nice, cozy, with warm ambient light (from the table lamps).

Yes, keep everything away from flammable materials. I think the most common mistakes are that people move these things under overhangs, awnings, or even those table sun shades/umbrellas. Bad combination. But 99.7% of the time, no problemo...
