Zelda is my favorite game franchise but this game is terrible. Linear, repetitive, and that big empty sky overworld without anywhere good to explore.
Completely agree, and I will add that I personally felt the puzzles were too simple and easy. I always loved trying to figure things out in the previous Zelda games, and there was none of this in Skyward Sword. I lost a lot of hope for Zelda, so glad I was wrong!! BotW was such a unique and special experience for me.

I think if it was released back in the day, it would be amazing. I wish it was a little more linier because I don't have time to play... I miss the 8 dungeon boss formula as I just roam around... I envy everyone who has time to explore. OoT is my fave, second a LttP, MM, and TP... Just to name all of the many 8 have best. Botw is good... Maybe one day I can get the time to do it. But skyward sword had to be one of the worst/most frustrating I played. Nintendo does the hand holding too much and the motion controls turned me off... Why do I need to know a green rupee is had the value of 5 every time I turn the game on? Nintendo just got too casual for me and Zelda is my favorite franchise, so it bummed me out... I just don't have time for games anymore... So maybe one day I can get back to it
The item description on each pickup has been removed and you can use the flick controls now or motion.

It wasn't so bad I liked the dungeons and story
and it was interesting to see the evolution to botw. My one complaint about botw was the easy bosses and no story based dungeons, the ones scattered around felt like aide quests to me

Never know what to make of this deal. Love Zelda. I see all the negative comments, but I see it always gets lots of likes. This could not be more confusing of a deal.
It's Zelda and we all want to like it. It's worth trying. Like another said, I hated the sky words... But I liked wind waker back in the day. They all have their charm. I want this game to get to $20 and I will add it to the backlog

I was in the same boat. I originally couldn't get into BOTW and found it to be super confusing. Out of the blue, I started playing it again, got completely hooked, and beat it. Best Zelda game I've ever played, despite a slightly different formula. Can't wait for the sequel in May!
There isn't much to it once you get going.

You basically just go solve the optional puzzle dungeons for hearts/gear and follow the ticks on the map.

I originally loved BoTW, but I replayed with my stepson as he got older and playing it the second time around exposes how little there is to do. Still a fun game though!

A lot of people don't know the additions between the Wii and the HD Remaster so here's what I found:

-Visual Upgrade (HD, 60fps)
-Joycon motion controls are more responsive than the Wiimote was, or you can use button controls with Joycon/Pro Controller/switch Lite etc
-Skippable dialogue, cutscenes, tutorials, less 'annoying helper' moments, no item pickup messages every time, autosave, camera control

As much as I want to like the game, they should have ported it a way where you can press a button to swing your sword instead of trying to control it with a joystick. Want to like this game...this feels more like a emulator. Once again Nintendo ported without any thought to enjoy it more on the switch.
Yep. I got it for $30 at Target 2 weeks back and it's been miserable trying to force myself to get through it. Just feels like one big chore.

That's why I hated it on the Wii... First time I just quit playing a Zelda game... Second time is botw... But I thought this version you could turn off motion controls? Still I'm not ready to try this game
This is an overpriced botch job from what I read, and the graphics are basically the same, minus Link's more rounded shoulders. Controls are worse and laggy versus the original. Mindless Nintendo fans encourage the company to continue regurgitating these lazy ports at wholly undeserved prices.

It's a shame you couldn't get into Skyward Sword with the better, older Wii version. This is a great Zelda game, though with some annoying drawbacks like Fi, the underdeveloped sky world, Fi, the surface world felt like something was missing to me, Fi, lack of minigames versus previous Zeldas, Fi, and the collectable materials system is underutilized, and also, Fi.

After playing BotW, I can't help but feel that all the fans never experienced an open-world before, that is too strongly how they come across. I was so disappointed that I decided not to buy a Switch or Switch games. I'll wait on the Switch's successor to consider buying a Nintendo system again. I tended to buy Nintendo systems just for Zelda games, Mario and other games being a bonus for me.

Some aspects rubbed people the wrong way, especially the controls and Fi. Understandable. My sister mastered the controls easily, just wow. I could never, but at least I got the hang of them well enough to enjoy the game and play all the way through.
