This is an absolutely pitiful product. I've owned four of these. The cheap plastic in the handle of each one disintegrated. Each one was returned after a period of about a year. Bissell does absolutely no product testing.

I've been using this for 3 years now, using it about twice a month on average to clean pet and food messes on a carpet - I haven't had any issues with it aside from the width of the spray being bigger than I'd like. It works well enough for what I use it for and would buy again.

So if I had a wed/dry vac, a drill brush, and chemical cleaners already, this wouldn't clean any better than that?

I have been watching for deals on the Bissell Little Green cleaner...and I am in for one. Amazon had this model for 90 over this past weekend. I am going to give this a try on a couch that has some stains and discoloring over the years and see how it goes. I figured at 69 bucks it is worth the risk and can always return it to walmart for 90 days if it isnt very effective or the hose cracks (which is a well known complaint)...Wirecutter rated this their #1 spot cleaner recently.

I was going to say the same thing. I've had mine for a while and absolutely love it.

Never had any problems with it. I just wish I bought it on sale .

Used to have one of these and prefer the HART (Walmart brand) spot cleaner. Dog hair and other crap gets stuck in the clear window on the brush tool, I could never get it cleaned out. And same for the dirty water tank. The HART one has a removable window on the tool, same for both water tanks and also has a self clean option to clean out the hose.

No, this basically just combines a sprayer and a wet vac with a scrub brush, you spray, you scrub and vac. If you don't already have one a cheap handheld steamer would be a more useful addition. The spotbot version of this is great for pet owners because it's all in one and does the scrubbing for you in a specific spot, the wand only ones like this are kinda meh other than if you like spilled a soda on your couch or something and didn't want to deal with rags etc to clean it up.

Every aspect and feature of this appliance is designed specifically for the purpose of sucking pet stains out of carpets and upholstery. For example, the shape and dimensions of the hose nozzle is fairly important for this task, and shop vacs don't usually come with one like it. Suction is just the right balance between strength and not-pulling-up-the-rug-itself. You can see the contents of the tank; shows the liquid clearly so you know if the stain is in it. Its design has odor-isolation aspects a shop vac doesn't - I could leave the tank full of nastiness for weeks and not smell anything. Its bristles are soft - like a toothbrush - where a drill brush is too stiff for a rug.

The cleaning solution is specialized for this task too. You mix it with a large amount of water and use much more solution to finish the task (I probably go through up to 10oz per use) than you normally would with a standard bottle of spray cleaner.. You don't just give it a spritz - you saturate the area with solution so the stain is dispersed in enough liquid to be vacuumed. I also find it makes the device self-cleaning.

Point being: the Bissell makes a somewhat difficult and disgusting task significantly easier and quicker. You could still get it done with a shop vac, the right hose attachment and brush, a big diluted bottle of cleaner; it would just take more work and complication.

I'm able to clean that part of the brush to 99% with the hand-held sprayer that comes out of my sink - aiming one of the jets straight down the opening at the corners.
