Why do I need this? People say it gets black spots and burnt in grease that can't be removed. How do you prevent that from happening?

I picked one of these up as a Black Friday special at Macys like a decade ago. Still use it almost daily. The lid has a section where the glass meets the metal rim that's a little hard to clean. Also, like most other cookware with internal rivets, stuff can accumulate there so you have to take some care cleaning around it.

No, all stainless. The outside of this one is a little different than mine (it's like a revision of the same pot), but the lid appears to be the same.
