Think referring to an nvme with DRAM cache. For gaming it doesn't make a difference. It helps speed things up if you are moving a large amount of data around frequently.

i'd like to get the 2TB version of this deal to put in that enclosure, and keep using as a boot drive, but I'm pretty confused if this is the type of drive, that would be appropriate for that type of use, and would allow the computer to run nice and fast when being used as a boot drive?

"Solidigm officially formed in December of last year as part of the larger Intel-SK hynix deal that found SK hynix buying Intel's NAND and SSD business. Solidigm is a subsidiary of SK Hynix"
"Solidigm backs this with a five-year warranty and 400TB of write endurance per TB of capacity" (so it would be 800TB of write endurance for 2TB). "This level of write endurance is fairly good for QLC, easily beating the (i.e. Crucial's) P3 Plus.

Tested it for the past few days without any perceivable slowdown compared to running games off the internal NVMe drive.
This whole 5,000MB/s thing is nonsense for gaming reads / writes.
I've also installed a nice aluminum heatsink shroud (2 pack for 10 bucks on Amazon to keep the drive cool inside my PS5.
At $110 you can't go wrong with it.
Yes fine
