This is the cheapest it's been in the last 12 months according to CCC. I had been waiting in vain for it to drop into the sub $50 range for a long time now, but with inflation, I think it likely won't go any lower than this anytime soon. Just pulled the trigger, thanks OP!

PS. For anyone wondering the differences between this and the GLM20 that's slightly cheaper, besides an extra 100' of range, this one has a higher degree of accuracy, the ability to store past measurements, and most importantly it can calculate the vertical leg height of a right triangle via Pythagorean theorm whereas the GLM20 can't. That alone is worth the extra $20 to me

Capabilities aren't what makes a laser distance measure tool. Accuracy is.

Nice! I've been sort of eyeing a laser measure tool for awhile now. This is one of those tools that comes in very handy when you need it.

I had a couple of similar ones and they all died after 8-9 months. 2 had corrosion contacts and just stopped working. Another would eat batteries even when it was off. They all claimed 100 ft but you can't see more than 60 ft.

How is this one for long distances?

honestly it would kind of hard to explain the light conditions i used it in but i've never had any corrosion or battery problems whether on or off .i've changed the battery once since getting it last year. i've never needed to measure more than 90ft.i do remember using it to randomly measure across a building in manhattan during the day and it worked.

This is one of those things that might not be a good idea to cheapen out on, especially when accuracy and reliability is relied upon. Home Depot has this for $30 more.

Aside from durability and quality control of the knock off brand, there is a little extra consideration when buying product. When you can, pay a little more and buy U.S. brand. Even though it is probably made in China but at least it would keep U.S. companies a little bit more profitable and allow them to innovate further. That's what I do and would encourage those of you who can afford a little extra to do the same.

Might depend on what you're measuring. I bought this to measure the distance from the ground to my gutters (~40ft) for a gutter heat cable. Worked like a charm.

100% agree with not buying the knock-off, copycat Chinese garbage. I don't buy it on principle. F*ck all of those losers who lazily copy existing products, slap some made up name on it, and peddle it on Amazon and similar.

However I'm pretty sure that Bosch is not a US company Smilie, it's German. Either way, I agree with buying from an established brand versus the cheapest turd I can find.

I really want to buy this, but: case-in-point --> I STILL have my Bosch DLR165 (and the pouch) that I bought about 10 years ago if I remember correctly. I've used Eneloop AA's in it, and unlike someone else in this thread I haven't changed the batteries "every year" LOL. How unnecessary, and wasteful. Zero issues 10 years later.

To add to this, I've always tried to buy the best tools I can. In general: with good care they will last longer, perform better, and cost LESS in the long run. My favorite example is my Bosch 1590EVSK jigsaw. Purchased on August 22nd, 2009 on Amazon. Made in Switzerland. STILL going. Only thing I've ever had to replace was the switch. And since it wasn't some no-name, knock-off Chinese brand, I was actually able to buy the switch for it a couple of years ago. So 11 years after purchase. Try getting support for your ultra high quality "ENGiNDOT" tool 11 years down the road. Or maybe try getting support from "Wishpig", Euymhod", and others.
