coupon might not be applicable for an on sale item.
BB website says coupon applies to their current price. I got denied at one BB, but the second one I went to did it without issue (like it was normal -- didn't have to get manager approval or anything).
Does this have any features (beyond AX) different than the AC86U I've used for years?
You should be able to compare them on Asus' website. Why are you looking to upgrade? That will determine if it makes sense. I bought the AX86S over Asus' AC routers because AX models should get FW support for longer. Asus has said AC units will remain on the previous generation 386 firmware, while AX units get the new/current generation 388 firmware.

Anyone has experience with AX router pair with AC router on AiMesh? Seems like it will downgrade to AC speed and no 160hz will be used even when you connect to Wi-Fi 6. Is this still true?
My best buy says there is no trade in for network devices coupons. Is there anything on the site that I can show them that it exists? Or has the deal expired already?
That really depends, if the user isn't doing VPN stuff then they aren't likely to need the two extra processors -- and I would say most don't have service faster than 1Gbps. The radios are the same between the U and S, and it's pretty well agreed upon that the WiFi performance is the same for both units.
