the side of the lock with the batteries is probably not made to be used outside so you "can" use it, but probably should not.
I got one of these last summer for $17. It is still working fine on the original set of batteries.

Thoughts on quality? I'm looking to replace my august lock that i hate with something that's reliable lol.

There's nothing like having to take a crap and your august lock wont recognize your Bluetooth or WIFI connect while you sit there waiting on the app to do something for 30-45 seconds.

Only problem i see with this style is the buttons you press all the time will eventually rub off correct?

Not worth more than that. I have the Schlage BE365, have had it in my last 3 homes. That thing does not reduce by much, am sure for a reason.

Was all-in on August. Grew to hate them for the same reasons. I did reluctantly give them money for their keypad which sped things up quite a bit over trying to unlock with my phone. Can't speak to the reliability of this lock but I've had a couple of Kwikset 909's that were solid for me. They're also quite a bit more expensive though.

Another $20 and you can get a different brand with a finger print reader which works awesome. Look up the Teehoo brand on Amazon. Dont have to worry about any wifi issues or BT issues. Just a finger press and your good to go. Have had it now for well over 4 months no issues and still on original batteries in the Chicago cold! Also I prefer the none wifi or BT locks cant be hacked remotely so they are a lot more secure.

I've had one on my shop that a lot of different people use for about a year. Still works and looks new. I had to clean off dirty/greasy buttons many times and still nice looking. Also still on first set of batteries. Programming it took a min to figure out, but now have different codes for everyone so I can delete one easily without effecting all the users.

Wow, the current price is no deal. Wait for a better price, which happens quite often.

Guess WalMart paid slickdeals to advertise this inflated price. And no, not due to the "inflation" bogeyman, as inflation is down a bit in the last few weeks, not up in the last couple of days, from when this lock sold for $29 a couple of days ago.

Four months used minimum 10 times daily and battery indicator is still not giving us a 15% warning so I would say battery life is excellent if it lasts 6 months I will be extremely happy. So I would say either people using junky batteries or the reviews have shoddy workmanship on their doors where the bolt does not glide freely.

Overall for the $50 and $55 I paid for both my Teehoo locks I been extremely happy with them.

I used to think that there are good options in Amazon but can't help to think how secure these are compared to the likes of Schlage.

Just as secure if not more so, you are either ANSI compliant or you are not. In this case the teehoo below is ANSI grade 3 making it compliant and the standard. The brinks listed here does not even look to be Ansi compliant so less secure and non standard.

Any insight on how to rekey the lock so 2 bolts can have the same key?
Look for something from KwikSet called SMARTKEY.

The keypad helps but it eats batteries. Maybe 1-2 months. It doesn't have a notification either so it will just randomly die on you.

Mine lasted longer and I'm pretty sure it notified me when it had low batteries so maybe it was a newer model.
