Whether or not 10 mm is outdated is pure conjecture. Some people have problems with low drop shoes, some don't. Really comes down to your gait.
Imho, if you're just getting into running, going to your local running store and talking to the people there will save a lot of future pain

I don't know what the guy is talking about I haven't heard of a certain Drop being outdated I always thought it was a personal preference. But I think at least some companies are going for a lower drop i been seeing 4-8mm drop on new shoes. I'm guessing lower drop is starting to become more popular which is understandable. I would prefer a lower drop as well so I have to agree 10mm is becoming outdated.

If TCB I hear it's a hit/miss. R10 has been reliable for me
