ITT: People who used to scream at their Direct TV receiver every time the guide lags at all. It's the same people who are willing to spend hundreds on a device and hundreds more every month on streaming services just to be 10000% sure it's seamless and with zero lag ever.

If you're the part of the "I WILL PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR CONVENIENCE" crowd, why are you even here? Why are you bothering complaining about these Firesticks that literally cost 1/4 the price of the Apple TVs you prefer? Are you really naive enough to think that the two pieces are hardware would perform the same way? Get a grip. Better yet, get off Slickdeals because you should be browsing Apple's or Best Buy's website instead.
I agree with you and got downvoted just like you.

Is this worth upgrading from regular 4K Fire Stick? I just use it for Smart tube TV (Youtube without ads).

If you have the money then buy the Apple TV
...And if you want to restrict yourself to Apple's app store otherwise if you want to do/install whatever you like from various different app stores then you can do that with Fire device and any device running Google TV OS.

Internet points matter very little, so I wouldn't worry about it. Regardless, I do appreciate your comment; it's nice to see some sensibility.

Would that be comcast as in xfinity, or comcast where that branding still operates (midwest and I believe north east US)

What app? We have the Fire 4K and the Max model and they both feel meh. Apple TV feels the most snappy. Nvidia Shield TV is somewhere in the middle.

Yes, we have all 4 different streamers. At this point, I'm surprised that Samsung hasn't released one yet.
There are several apps that do the job.

The one I use is Fast Task Killer. It automatically closes all open or recently used but not quite actually closed apps, it clears out the cache and RAM. No BS here, guys: It does make a huge difference. Without it, Kodi runs like choppy crap and is useless, for example, but after running FTK, Kodi streams a 4k REMUX 80GB movie perfectly via a normal 5ghz wireless connection.

It truly makes no sense at all that Amazon Firesticks or all types doesn't actually let you manually close apps on its own. Of course, it also doesn't make any sense that not even the newest version of Fire Cube doesn't have Gigabit ethernet.

I still like the 2019 version of Shield best overall, even the Apple TV, especially since Apple TV doesn't do DTS sound, among other shortcomings.

Anyway, get the Fast Task Killer that is free anyway and run it and your freed up resources will make your Amazon device perform better.

This is a decent start, however these youtubers do a fantastic job of shuffling in useless and deceptive information alongside the good info. For example, many people will not need to buy VPN, and even if you do, you generally don't want to by the lackluster ones that these types of channels like to peddle. Do your own research if you're going to do this stuff too and don't just trust that these folks are being forthright with you, because their vested interest is to tell you things that keep you locked into their channel - they generally do that by being hyperbolic and by trying to get your blood pressure up by telling you there's some imminent threat. Again, do your own homework.

Sounds good on paper. Makes no difference in real life use.

In a blind test, nobody would be able to tell the difference.
If you have fire tv stick 4k it's not really worth to upgrade to 4k Max
But for new tech buyers $30 newest 4k Max is a better deal than $25 old 4k
Benefits of 4k Max:
AV1 is a new must have codec for 4k videos in 2023+
Fire OS 7 vs OS 6
40% faster because new less nanometer chip technology it will help stay cooler under high load and perform better for a future loads
Supports Dolby Atmos in ALL apps

Both MT8696 (4K Max 2021) and MT8695 (4K 2018) are 12nm (both 5W TDP), but the higher cpu clock speed, upgraded gpu, codec support for AV1, 500mb extra ram (DDR4 over DDR3) and newer Fire OS 7 does make this discounted 4K Max more attractive for longevity.

Amazon has loaded many apps on this stick which you can't uninstall. I always get low storages notifications which I never had in previous version
