I have this. TBH it isn't even worth $7.

Save money and buy a better one. Seriously, "buy it nice, or buy it twice" is real for mic stands.

I'd recommend one with a solid arm. Elgato mic stands are expensive, rode too, but if you buy two or three cheap ones you'll get there anyway.

Just received this from the Black Friday sale. Very low quality. If you are putting a cheap mic on it, it's probably fine. I wouldn't suggest something like a Shure SM7B on this.

Totally agree. I was going to go with a cheap one from the Black Friday deals, but started researching a little and figured it's probably worth spending a little more to avoid frustration. Ended up going with a rode psa1. Very solid. A few places had it for $79. Musicians Friend still does โ€ฆ. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/a...udio%20Arm. Not sure if that's super slick, but it's very nice and feels like it will last for quite a while without problems.

I use this as a daily driver for my Yeti X. I oiled the joints when I got it a few months ago, and it's been great. I haven't had a single issue out of it.

I have this one and use it for the Blue Yeti microphone. It's not ideal and it's better to apply for a different surface than your working desk. Because the microphone will pick up any bumps on the desk.

I also have this. Been using it for a few years now and I've had no issues. With the right shock mount and oiling of the joints, as someone else mentioned in this thread, this boom arm is good in a pinch. That being said, if someone is looking to have a professional production this isn't it. This is only for someone starting out and seeing if they even want to have a desktop mic or not.

I have a bunch of these. IMO, they serve their function and are well worth $7.

Save money by buying one of these and spend the money on other gear. Seriously, "buy it nice, once your studio is full of expensive stuff," is real for mic stands.

A $100 mic stand with a solid arm like the Elgato is WAY better than one of these, no arguing that. Buy one if it's in the budget for you. Does it give you over 14 times the functionality? I don't think so. Does this $7 cheaply made arm provide basic functionality? In my opinion, yes, and then some, and I have multiple in use.

One other point to consider, you can get a REALLY cheap adapter to screw onto this arm, I think it's 5/8 to 1/4 inch or something like that, which then lets you thread on cameras and lights. I am using one of these to hold a camera for my PC, a couple to hold cheap LED lights, and a few for microphones. All of those uses are comfortably and reliably accomplished daily and for a long time now. No failures, no real issues. Could you do the same with bigger, heavier stands? Sure. Is it worth it? I think so. Do they feel light and cheaply made? Yes. They were very cheap though, so I don't see the issue. They are so useful I have extras, and they all seem to be slowly finding homes and jobs.

My (differing) 2+c on the topic.

Have a great day.

I've had two of these style arms and both ended up sagging the microphone because the joint on the end with the knob can't be tightened further once it starts to go bad.

Elgaro and Rode are like $100 so I'd have to buy almost 15 to get there. What do you recommend under $30?
