The catch here is I have tried multiple brands and they all end up having the same double click issue because the internal switch is a component sourced by nearly all these companies the same. I've taken the switch apart to manually fix it, following some online guide, and seeing how thin and tiny the copper metal inside that needs to be bent back is, you realize how insanely delicate it is and this is clearly some part of planned obsolescence, as the only logical explanation.
With that being said, for basically the best mouse out there, with Logitech's proprietary free scroll, I just accept that this sucks and live with it for $30.
Until companies make their own switches with higher quality, the double click issue isn't going away anytime soon. I made the mistake of buying some fancy $120 mouse once, only to encounter the same double click issue, only to find out after researching online that this $120 mouse had the same switch as a $30 mouse, and I told myself never again.
So, imo, if this mouse has what you like, at $30, just go with it. As a very heavy user myself, it still will last me a while. I probably put in the equivalent in 18 months as an average user might in 5+ years.

I keep seeing things about double-clicking problems on this mouse. Any thoughts on the reliability of these?

So I don't think witless is out. Wires can be annoying but I think it's superior in speed and quality and price for what you get.
However, I do think that detachable wires are very nice and having the option to switch from Bluetooth to wired or the other way around is quite nice too.
I tried a few high quality wired mice and this was one I really liked. Though the older version had a nicer cable, i hardly look at the cable once it's plugged in so that's ok. One thing specifically I like about this one, which id similar to the mx master is that I can do horizontal scrolling by press the scroll wheel one way or another. That was something I missed from mx master.

Double click issue is 100% real. I still buy this mouse. I am a HEAVY user, and it will last me maybe 18 months before click issue happens. Because I love this mouse so much, I basically just buy multiple I have purchased and kept in their packaging until error happens on the next one, and then I do the RMA process to get a new one, whilst opening the package for one I already bought. Kind of a pain, but easy.

This ended up being my favorite overall of the bunch. Light, responsive, great side button placement. Just the perfect combo of what i wanted at a great comparative price. Think I'm going on a full 2 years now and never had a double clicking issue pop up (nor on any of the others i bought either). And that's with both working and game from home, with an average of about 15 hours daily on the PC. With the typical wear and tear that comes with that. It's seen 3 billion clicks. It's fallen off the desk or got banged around at times. I can get pretty excited while gaming and end up spam clicking the buttons pretty hard at times.
If the mouse breaks tomorrow I'd go out and buy the same one without question, and at $30 would personally view a year+ before that happened as a win.
And as mentioned, if you are in the middle on some online game with others and you don't want to be the one that has hiccups in movement in the middle of the game.

You are comparing with a consumer wireless mouse. Gaming-grade wireless is very different. It's low latency, high polling rate, and doesn't have hiccups. It does chew through the battery though.

This, and weight too comes into play. At least for me and especially while gaming for extended periods of time. None of the quality wireless mouse I've tried felt like slam dunk keepers on those 2 reasons alone.
