Got this cabinet. The marquee does light up, but it's not bright.

There's a pretty easy YouTube tutorial to add Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and also Turtles in Time to this arcade machine. pretty much the operating system is a android operating system. You load a program that loads on top of the operating system in which you can choose the arcade one up Simpson's mode or ninja Turtle's mode.

In hindsight, it's really easy however, some of the YouTube videos leave out some information that makes it a little harder. Just remember you need to download the tmnt arcade image

You can basically softmod this arcade machine to play any ROM you want. You could theoretically mod to play 100s of arcade MAME games. Google.

You thought it was going to be a complete replica of an arcade cabinet machine that would cost a few grand for this price? it's about 75% as good, I would say that's an incredible deal.

Because not everyone is technical enough to hack this to add more games.

It's like asking why do people still take their cars to the shop to change brakes and spending a fortune when all you need to know about changing brakes is on YouTube.

I mean I also have a TMNT machine that I took the main board out to put a raspberry pi for like 6000+ games. That's an emulator.

I also have a cocktail legit machine…it's just an old school "emulator" or practically a board with just one game. I replaced the broken old tube screen (I know I'm not suppose to) with an lcd monitor but I know "real" arcades

So yes it's not up to the quality of an actual arcade but for the price and the SIMPSONS arcade which I grew up playing…pretty good.

Otherwise you'll have to find a used beat up one to refurbish and restore. Or build your own which I don't have the time or tools to do.

I find it funny that they're practically liquidating these cabinets but there are always negative comments about these products. The price of the power tools, materials (particle board, decals, controls, acrylic, screen, 3D print coin panels, lights, riser, stool, tin poster etc.) raspberry pi, game, and pcb's etc. would be more than the price you would pay here for example. Not to mention the amount of time, research, and frustration. Not to mention these cabinets come delivered free when they weigh around 100lbs.
There's also the nostalgia factor of being able to play arguably the best replica today of a game you grew up pumping quarters into - the memories that it brings back and the feeling you get is worth the money - and for someone to criticize another for that is pretty sad imo.

Playing 4 player with a cool simpsons cabinet seems like a lot more fun than playing mame simpsons on a pc with 4 xbox controllers setting on a couch. This seems like it would be more fun and more nostalgia from playing the arcade version as a kid.
