the price is low but the Nest Hub is slow too.

Please have expectation this is not any faster than a 10 year old Nokia.

I think they are trying to to phase this out and replace it with a Pixel Tablet + dock. The driving idea is you might as well put that tablet that's sitting under your sofa to work.

How did you come by that code? It's not working for me.
Try PayPal10, Total needs to be $50 but takes off $10.

I can't get that promo code to work either.

"Please add $50 more in items to use this promo"

🤷 ♂️ cart total is $54 before taxes.

You can change the phrase using Google Home. Instead of saying "hey google" I only say "google" now. Google home controls all of your google devices. I also have the Nest router and point. Several google devices throughout my house.
How exactly are you changing the wake word when it's baked into the firmware?

You're probably getting picked up on a Pixel device and thinking the home smart devices have this feature.

I just wanted to note that I've been able to overcome most Google Home automations by using Home Assistant. The one thing that I have not been able to overcome is getting Google Home to return information from Home Assistant.
Sounds like you'd benefit from IFTTT or a Hubitat.

Though Google recently added a bunch of functionality to their routines that might help also.

As someone who only owns a couple google home minis - what's the benefit of this over what I have? I have had my home minis for at least 5 years and haven't paid much attention since - is this a nice upgrade?

Thanks in advance

I agree. I switched to this Google hub from cheap Echo dots a few months ago. I just put the hub in the junk drawer today, and went back to the Dots. The hub was incredibly slow to respond and glitches out constantly. I tried everything to get it working, from resetting it multiple times, trying different smart bulbs, to changing router settings. The Google Home ecosystem is a mess. I have a few Google Home minis at work, as well, and they constantly need to be rebooted to get working after they bug out. We have to reboot them at least every other day.
Considering the complexity of smart homes you have to wonder what is the cause. Main issue with Alexa, no mater how many times I changed settings, she loves to ask follow up questions. Alexa would tend to have issues with a few of my devices from time to time, but was pretty stable as a front-end to a smart home. She was quick with most devices.

Google home hub...do have to repeat myself occasionally, but it gets better if you have a few versus just one. Scary to see which device picked up your voice. They do tend to reboot in the middle of the night, but the speakers seem stable. I haven't had to reboot a home hub manually. I do feel I have to be a little patient with them ,compared to alexa, but they don't tend to ask silly follow up questions. Google seems to handle odd ball requests, better than Alexa.

Amazing how complex smart homes are and how different setups can have different results with various front ends. Scary how much they are doing behind the scenes. Like when asking the temperature....they decide which region the speaker is from and answer in Celsius versus Fahrenheit. They tend to notice more than one would expect as well.

YMMV but bought 2 for $68 using the $10 promo (as seen on other Walmart threads). Promo codes WOWFRESH, PayPal and more.
Thank you for the promo code in for two!

I wonder if they'll replace it with the Pixel Tablet since the tablet has the charger holder that makes it look like a Hub. A 2in1 kinda of deal.
