You're better off buying a Chromecast with Google TV or an Nvidia shield or even the On Android boxes and installing Kodi and setting that up. But if you do not want to diy a setup then sure buy some Chinese box that will end support who knows when and who knows what tracking is being done.
Unblock Tech has been around since 2013. It's currently on the 9th generation. Amazon sells it but eBay is cheaper. There are dozen other Chinese knockoffs but Unblock Tech isn't going away and the product support will never end.

I'll take a stab at this.

I believe the Ultra will be faster when opening apps.

The Ultra has Dolby Vision, if your tv supports that.

The Ultra has a WiFi remote that doesn't need line of sight, meaning you can hide it away.

The Premiere remote doesn't have volume buttons or voice search. You can download the Roku app and use that as your remote instead, which will solve all the remote problems I've listed. In fact, I haven't used a remote in years. It's too easy to just pull up the app on my phone or turn the tv on or off using HomeKit.

It appears they're both dual band WiFi, which means they should be able to stream without buffering. I would imagine the Ultra would still be more likely not to have buffering.

I have Apple TVs, but I just got a Roku tv, and I've found myself using the Roku more than I thought. It's a very easy to use interface. The ads are a bit annoying. I just bought this one to add to another tv just to stream The Weather Channel. If I planned on using a Roku as my main source of entertainment, I'd go for the Ultra for that $30 price. $16 for this Roku Premiere is a no brainer to buy now. I'll also always encourage people to dump Cable TV, cable boxes, and Comcast/Xfinity. Hope this helps.
How do you get Weather Channel without cable?

Riiiight‽ I looked it up and was like sheesh. Plus Rokus are less about the extras and more about accessing apps from the companies not setting up a free streaming solution. Roku is great for my mom and grandma, me, Shield of Google TV all the way

Roku just sucks, it does not allow to pair Bluetooth headset than app private listening ....

Stop talking fake thing listening on app, it has huge latency to listen from you smartphone app to burn smartphone battery for watching TV and sound not sync with lips ...
Roku fanboy all seems having brain cancer..
i think i just got brain cancer reading that sentence.

i've used that same functionality multiple times, either with wired headphoes or airpods, and i've never experienced any lag. of course it will use your battery's charge but it's not "burning" through it like when you're watching directly on your phone. my guess is it would probably be somewhat the same as when you are streaming music. of course, i don't have my phone screen on when i'm doing this. so maybe there are other factors causing your lag besides it being roku.

Sharp eye, Good found !
I guess they expect you turn off the device with manual power switch...volume control to use your TV remote....
I got a Roku 2, 2016, I just tell Alexa to turn on TV. Or use Roku app as a remote.

I watched speed tests on YouTube Vs my Roku 2, maybe new one saves a second.

Isn't it cheaper to just hook the hdmi to an old laptop, easier interface, use a bluetooth mouse. There's no browser on roku and firesticks browser Isn't user friendly
Isn't it cheaper to just carry around your laptop with a 3G radio and Skype loaded in it in place of your cell phone? I mean you can type messages so much easier with a full size keyboard.

What I hate about Roku is that they do not have Bluetooth!!!
If you want it for audio - you can use the phone app and stream audio via bluetooth there.

I'm tempted to buy this just to get a backup remote for our Roku Ultra that's connected to our non smart TV. I know that I can use my phone as a remote, but every time I try to do that I have to sync it to my Roku again.
I already bought a backup remote for our Roku TV for $20. It has a power button for the TV. The remote for this sale Premier does not have a power button.
I was having the exact issue as you on my TCL Roku tv on my tv but I found the fix last night. Don't know if it would work with on a stand alone device. Turn on Fast TV Start. (Settings>Power>Fast TV Start start enabled.) It used to take forever for the Roku app to find my device.
