I had the first Eufy floodlight camera and the motion detection was poor - it only recognized people once they were fully in the screen/zone. Anyone with this camera seen improvement in motion detection?

A small group of people are overreacting about this because of a youtuber. First they said it was a "major breach" and now steadily everyone is backpedaling and realizing no data was compromised.

So Eufy put up disclosures about push notifications for thumbnails and modified the way their web portal worked. For most of us that is enough. Especially for external monitoring. Most of us on slickdeals bought these to avoid the subscription fee and Eufy works great for that.
Well, I think you're ignoring the fact that this shouldn't be possible if they were encrypting the videos like they said they were from the beginning. But since they aren't you can pull up un-encrypted live videos.

They've never encrypted the data, hence the issues. How can you trust anything they say?

I have the Eufy 2C (1080P) and 2C pro (2K) cameras with Homebase2 (2nd generation Eufy products). People aren't detected until about 3 - 5 seconds after they enter the viewing area if they are detected at all . But I have also gotten the same results when I tried Ring, Arlo & Blink systems.

A friend of mine tested the same brands as I did and got similar results to mine. He switched to a hardwired system and didn't get any better results than the wireless brands. Since I can't return my Eufy security products anymore, I'm stuck using them until I hear of a much better system.

Beyond disgusted, they BUILT this Line on the promise of security (now PROVEN vaporware)
I've evangelized Anker audio devices, but now want to see if the cameras can be charged back.

Tempted to move away from Eufy with the news about them actually uploading thumbnails to their cloud. Very deceptive.
I figured they did, only because they'd need to in order to send rich push notifications

I totally understand that there needs to be communication tosend the notifications, but the fact they kept pushing "no cloud" and store thumbnails for an undetermined amount of time is a problem.

The thing about being able to play the video in vlc isn't as huge to me because the person trying to access it needs to get 1000 things right to play it.

I'm not moving away yet, but I don't like what they did. If they offered refunds for the products, no matter when purchased, I probably would. But I don't know what I'd use instead.

Don't support this company. Don't buy their products. It's the only way they will stop these shenanigans.

To add to what everyone else is saying ---

Eufy is a company entirely based in China. Eufy does facial ID recognition across ALL its cameras -- so your unique ID can show up on other cameras if you're in the frame. So they can track you, essentially.

The CCP's laws apply here -- they have FULL access to Eufy's data. Therefore, the Communist Party of China is tracking you. This isn't tinfoil hat either -- it's enshrined into their law.

Kick this company to the curb. We can't sue them into oblivion, as they're in China. But we can stop buying their poorly made, privacy-destroying crappy products.

Great reliable camera with onboard storage (they do sell cloud storage for those who want more room)

Bought and installed this camera last month and am thoroughly impressed with it's performance. The video and audio are crystal clear even at night and without movement lag Software install was simple. There is storage on the camera enough to record at least 2 weeks of events. The camera picks up all movement within range without fail (for me about 100 ft).
I can see any animals entering or moving in my yard, and I finally put a light on my driveway that comes on whenever I need it. The electrical setup comes with a regular plug that is connected inside the housing with wire nuts that allow it to be easily disconnected. That's what I did then I drilled a 3/8" hole under my garage eave and fed the pigtail through from inside the garage and reconnected it back inside the housing. Two screws to mount the light and a 25' extension for power and it worked flawlessly. For my purposes it's excellent. I can view events on my laptop and phone. It also clearly picks up and records conversations 50' away. I haven't checked out the alarm feature but the volume of speech through the speaker to someone outside wasn't equal to the quality of the other features but was audible. Perhaps at night without other background noise it might be useful. At this price you can't go wrong.
I own 10 different trail cams on my 47 acres and even the best isn't nearly as reliable or clear as this.
This review is about camera quality not video security.
Eufy, if you're listening, please make trail cams for us. Big market.

Eufy openly LIED about their marketing claims. And they're backpedaling. Hard.

"...because of a youtuber." Does it matter where the whistleblower information came from? What's the line of demarcation for whistleblowing? "Oh it came from a mailroom worker, I only trust VP and above." Please do tell.

And it wasn't a youtuber, it was a security analyst --- who is a friend of that youtuber who used his platform and company to bring it to light. Putting his own company's reputation at risk...so you can imagine they vetted the information before announcing it.

And they're entirely based in China. Which makes the CCP's oversight of all data particularly chilling. Eufy isn't doing facial recognition and tracking -- the CCP is. This is outright foreign surveillance through the thin veneer of a commercial product.

Personally I'm more concerned about Apple and Google that are tracking and that provide my personal data to my own government without a warrant.
And if you don't like "Chinese" companies, just remember who sent our jobs there, it's the boomer/greatest generation who sent the work overseas starting in the late 70's so they could make money off the cheap labor and the stock market.
So, dear boomers of the world, don't tell anyone younger who they shouldn't purchase from, you have done enough damage already.SmilieSmilie

Don't our phone record and take photos of us almost every second ? Or do you all really believe they don't and actually believe that privacy exists lol
