To all the home gym owners, big ups to staying disciplined. It gets difficult when you get older.
I used to load up lifts and my form would eventually go to hell...then I'd visit snap city. 6 or 7 days off to recover then back at it. That's what kills motivation imo. Sometimes 6 days off turns into 2 weeks off, etc etc.
Stay healthy, lift a little less, be consistent.
And to all those who want to deadlift, be careful. this is one exercise you don't want to F around on. Really easy to hurt yourself. I DL once a week with light weight but good form. I always preferred a barbell.

Consistency > everything else.
In my teens and 20s I would go HAM in the gym on a daily basis but would sleep like shit and wouldn't recover and see results, just beat myself up constantly.
Obviously, the reason I wasn't seeing results was because I simply wasn't working hard enough. Couldn't have been that I wasn't taking care of myself. /s
For people over 6'. I would take caution before buying this. Depending on how wide your stance is when squatting and deadlifting. the cheap bars with narrow handles can prove problematic.
Note: I love trap bar deadlifting but must be careful of my loading when using these cheaper bars due to a less optimal stance.

A routine like 5/3/1 Boring But Big (well known, popular) is very helpful.
You input your max lifts into a calculator, and the program gives you a prescription of lifts to do, at a reduced percentage. One step back, to make sure you can keep going forward for months.

Anyway I use it for shrugs and decent deadlifts, nothing stupid at my age. It has been awesome to do shrugs for sure, and farmers walks around the garage…that's my favorite use…
If your looking for similar use than you should get what you need out of it I'd imagine…

Man, I couldn't agree more. I'm a 38 year old firefighter and dad of 3 with about 12 years lifting experience, and the last couple years of programming have been a lot more work in the 65-80% 1RM range with higher reps. My back and joints and tendons were really starting to bark at me after many years of pushing heavy weights in the 85-100% 1RM range and going after PRs. I'm feeling a lot better now overall myself!
That dude is a genetic freak and works his ass off, but the amount of gear he's on is off the charts. I can't imagine many people were surprised to see his lineup of steroids he uses. he probably goes to the same doctor as the rock.
