Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay.
Experience the critically acclaimed and award-winning Portal™ reimagined with ray tracing in this free DLC for Portal owners. Start thinking with portals, with RTX on.
The new free DLC, developed by NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios, reimagines Portal's graphics with full ray tracing, new hi-res textures, and new enhanced models. These enhancements improve immersion, graphical realism, and the overall gameplay experience. With the DLC installed, you'll be able to choose when you launch the game whether to play the original Portal or Portal with RTX.
If you aren't familiar with ray tracing, it's a method of graphics rendering that simulates the behavior of light. When playing a ray-tracing capable game on a compatible GPU, lighting, reflections, and optical effects appear much more realistic. With ray tracing, light can even pass through portals.

The misuse of the homophones is more of what is bring GPUs to their knees
I almost think this was intentional? could they really use the wrong there/their too/to and say needs instead of knees? maybe text to speech did it... though it would have to be a terrible one. I just tried it on Google and SwiftKey keyboards and both got it perfect lol.
I'm not complaining about the RTX DLC. It looks amazing. But the visual upgrade isn't due to RTX alone, as they want you to believe in those "RTX off/on" transitions. MOST of the visual upgrade seems to be from completely redoing the textures and adding light sources, which has nothing to do with RTX. If they really just turned RTX off/on, the difference would be greatly subdued.
In other words, this feels like a dishonest marketing attempt to make people want to buy RTX capable cards by crediting RTX with visual upgrades it is not responsible for.
EDIT: Downvoting doesn't change the truth. RTX is the smallest part of the graphical improvements showcased in the product trailer.

Yeah, can be completed injust under 6 minutes [youtube.com].
My steam account is 18 years old, portal wasn't free in 07 when it came out. If it was free at some point steam definitely wasn't a baby
It's basically a showcase for full ray tracing, which other games don't dare to enable due to the heavy tax on your system.
That being said, if you've never played Portal, it's worth the purchase even if you can't run the RTX upgrade yet.

You won't even be able to dream of that from a 3070...
