I'm a former gym rat and someone who was lazy about cooking meals in my 20s. Costco used to sell these Muscle Milk bags, I believe in the same size, flavors, and price (usually about $33 on a sale every other month). I'd buy both vanilla and chocolate. So I ate tons of this stuff over the years.
I eventually tried ON when I had a few more bucks in my pocket and there is no question: ON mixes into a shaker bottle without clumps unlike Muscle Milk, it has less fillers, and it's less artificial tasting for lack of a better word. If you have the money go for ON if you're a typical slickdealer and you're not anal about fine details then Muscle Milk is fine.
So to conclude my long review: if you're someone who is on a budget and you can't afford ON, this is a fine product. I wish they didn't add so many fillers and "concentrates" but that's what keeps the price down. Finally, here's the polarizing thing about Muscle Milk: They load it up with Sucralose (generic Spenda) and other artificial flavorings.
The end result is that this is a very sweet protein powder. Maybe that was their strategy: to get you hooked on something that tasted like your chocolate milk from childhood. But yeah, they did could halve the sweetness and it would still taste sweet; I won't get into arguments about artificial sweeteners. I myself buy Splenda so...
I still remember my post workout smoothie: 2 scoops of chocolate, 1-2 frozen bananas, a few ice cubes, 1 1/2 cups of almond milk, and a bit of PB2. Man, that was such a delight for someone who has a sweet tooth. Word of advice: if you don't like sweet stuff, then skip this or use it in water or sugar free almond milk. Good luck.
P.S. The vanilla is super artificial tasting. I still found ways to enjoy it by blending it with frozen berries or mixing it into porridge. But I can see why people really hate the vanilla flavor.

That's a cool idea on how to defeat the sweetness: use water or tea. Although I count sugar free almond milk as water lmao. Using kale also works, but I don't know if you can handle green smoothies. Blending this stuff for sure is the way to go. I forgot to emphasize this: Muscle Milk clumps no matter how you shake it.
(The banana I mentioned before gives it a smoother texture. It improves the mix a lot, but I don't always have them on hand.)
