Bought this as a second monitor and returned. It's not bad for the price, but I'd recommend getting one that's curved.

When it comes to image quality, TN < IPS < VA. VA monitors typically still have better contrast than even the best IPS panels, although IPS panels are also known to be very colorful.

The 31.5 has a rating from 2018. It says the 31.5 is good but dim, runs $300 at Amazon, and if you hook it to a Mac, use hdmi port#2. Bottom line: wait for rting best budget 32 which is LG 32GP850

I too use them for work and not gaming and prefer the 34" or 1440p monitors. Main issue have with anything larger than 1440p is the need to move my head up and down. It can hurt after a while.

VA without curve, doesnt that equal some bad viewing for the outer edge images?

Depends on how you use ultra wide monitors. Do you sit directly in front in the middle of one? Or do you have it offset like you would having two monitors? Me personally I would have it offset so I'm mainly focusing on the left side because that's how my desk is arranged. That's probably why I don't have an ultra wide right now.

I actually bought one of these. Honestly, I was impressed for $230. It's 75hz, and over-clockable to 95-100hz. Obviously it's a VA panel and has all the tradeoffs that come with that, but the image quality was okay. I did not mind the lack of a curve at this size, either. Full disclosure, I did return this and get an IPS panel with a KVM for a bit more, but it was more about features than quality.

While it's not top of the line, it's a totally serviceable monitor.

The higher 4k resolution should make reading a bit easier. Even at 1440 you can see pixels if you're at arms length or so.
But to the point that it's annoying, but you can. The sightly higher refresh rate of the UW will probably be noticable.

Most of the other specs are close, and wouldn't make a big difference day to day. At that point you're really just talking about aspect ratio and size. I think I'd prefer the ultrawide, but it probably depends on your setup.

I'm in the same boat, still looking for a wide monitor for work but debating if I should get curve or just wide. Maybe I need to swing by BB and see the differences in person.

get curved unless you sit far from your monitor.
