Man i really want to order this since it's a decent price, but I got both the 9 and then the 10 and both were returned because both have absolutely terrible connectivity issues. Couldn't use the app and it was a complete nightmare. Tried with 4 different devices and it was the same on all. I've heard the newest ones still have these issues too, it's a shame because the cameras are great, but they're such a huge headache because of this and you lose 90% of the usability.

I just made the purchase with $40 off $200 from Amex.
Received the email this morning and added the FREE Enduro Battery offer to the deal. $174 after discount.

Yes, released 9/2020, but half the price of the 10 and 11.

Do you have their subscription? Because then yes. I had an 8 and had it for a little over a year. Believe it was my 3rd or 4th time using it while in Hawaii... Well it wouldn't turn on. Spent HOURS trying to get help or something. They wouldn't do a thing. The one lady refused to give me a manager before finally hanging up on me. Finally after calling the 4th time I got a manager and he gave me a 25% off coupon to buy another one... Well first of all, none of my accessories would work with a new one and why would I buy another one when the one I had lasted maybe 6 hours? Lastly, the 25% off was off retail price, so when entering the code, the camera actually became more expensive than the normal advertised price; which the manager didn't care about either. It was honestly the biggest joke of customer service I've ever encountered.

Also, it's not really an upgrade when you have to spend $ on the replacement and then on top of that buy all new accessories...for me I had the case, 4 batteries and the dual charger... so over 100 dollars in accessories are junk and would need to spend another 100 on replacements.

also, my GoPro subscription ended the day before my GoPro broke... they didn't care about that either...too bad so sad.
"also, my gopro subscription ended the day before my gopro broke"
So why would you expect them to do anything for you then? If your car insurance expires, do you still expect them to pay out if you got in an accident the next day?

uh you said it right there, over a year is out of warranty. it sucks when stuff breaks right after it even if you only used it a few times.

Over the years I tried so many Chinese brands/knockoffs like AKASO, SJCAM and few other brands, end up returning them or selling at eBay all of them. Fake 4K, fake resolutions, bad sound, etc. Believe me, they're not worth it. Get a GoPro, DJI or Insta360 if you want a real action camera.
DJI or insta360 imo is the way to go.

Does car insurance have a warranty period? This is a stupid response, btw to give you a more realistic scenario. If your car is slightly outside of it's manufacturer warranty and the tranny blows at 37,000 miles of a 36,000 mile warranty, the manufacturer will do something, whether it's covering it under warranty, splitting the cost, etc. Like I said, any company worth a damn isn't going to say "get bent" like GoPro did when a camera has 6 hours on it and suddenly won't turn on. There are multiple solutions they could have offered and made no attempt. This is actually equivalent to a car having 5k miles and 4 years old and being outside manufacturer warranty. But hey, if you think that's good customer service and a good way to stand behind your product, then enjoy. Guess you look at these cameras the same way they do...as disposable cameras basically.
I never said anything about warranties. Yes you should have been helped under the terms of the warranty, but you mentioning that your gopro broke the day after your subscription sounds like you expected them to help you out above the normal warranty. Sure I'd be good customer service if they did, but you demanding it is unreasonable.

So if I want to give this as a gift, I'm assuming they can register the subscription in their name?

$170 for a new hero 9 with Enduro battery is a great deal. I'm using the Amex offer as well as coupon code Enduro for the free battery for Gopro subscribers. With the Gorpro labs firmware, this will be a great dash camera as well as being able to use it for other things.
I have two go pro hero 5 but the stabilization is really bad when doing mtb (mountain biking) so would like to use them as dashcama so is it possible?

Anybody use these on a bike? Could use one for my long rides. $300 is insane but ~$160 might do it for me. How long does battery last?
It depends on the quality you record. I own hero 9 and 10 and use it for MTB. with the normal battery (non Enduro) 4k 30fps lasts about 40 min ish. Definitely recommend packing a few batteries for a long ride

says " $200 in one or more purchases online " so as long as subscription charge shows up you are fine.

You're delusional. This is not a realistic scenario, at all. If your transmission goes kaput outside of the manufacturers warranty period, they are not legally obligated to do any of the things you described.
