Man i really want to order this since it's a decent price, but I got both the 9 and then the 10 and both were returned because both have absolutely terrible connectivity issues. Couldn't use the app and it was a complete nightmare. Tried with 4 different devices and it was the same on all. I've heard the newest ones still have these issues too, it's a shame because the cameras are great, but they're such a huge headache because of this and you lose 90% of the usability.

I just made the purchase with $40 off $200 from Amex.
Received the email this morning and added the FREE Enduro Battery offer to the deal. $174 after discount.

Yes, released 9/2020, but half the price of the 10 and 11.

Is it worth upgrading from Hero 7 Black?
Check gethypoxic.com. It has teardowns of Gopros. The biggest change from 7 to 9, 9 uses a newer Sony image sensor, but same image processor. They changed the processor as well in 10.

It depends on the quality you record. I own hero 9 and 10 and use it for MTB. with the normal battery (non Enduro) 4k 30fps lasts about 40 min ish. Definitely recommend packing a few batteries for a long ride
Is the 10 better in stability vs 9 mtb? I have the 11 but planning to return back to Amazon since its too expensive. Btw Amazon seem to have a newer stringent return now only ups return pickup only .

Unfortunately GoPro is on the way out…
😂 If you believe that, you clearly don't hold a long view of tech.
Insta360, DJI, may have made a good camera or two for the moment, but GoPro still very much owns the overwhelming share of the action camera market.
That won't change tomorrow, and there's no indication to signify that they won't beat the competition next year.

Not that it matters as through this deal, you're buying a camera. Not stock in GoPro. That camera can only be judged on ITS merit, against similarly priced rivals. Not some existential implication of the company that made it.

Hero9 is rather old isn't it?
I got the 9 and current 11. I like the 11 better, but it's only a few features that's all. Cost-wise, you are fine with the 9 if you need something and are looking for a great deal.

I just ordered this on their Black Friday sale for $100+ more. I wonder if they'd refund the difference.
They have a 30 days refund period. So why not return and buy at this price?

Can anyone recommend a Chinese alternative for $100-125?
Not anymore. I used to have an 8, and the stabilization was truly unbelievable.

To me they were very similar. I wasn't using the boost stabilizer because I thought that was too much for MTB. 10 just had better resolution. I saw 11 reviews and it seems to be about the same. and that's why I didn't buy 11. I've had 7,8,9, and 10.

Shouldn't this be the normal price for a two years old camera?

I've used GoPro's extensively, and I haven't bought any since Hero 8. They overheat and ruin the batteries. I bought about 8 batteries, and 4 of them expanded and would be a pain to get out. They were unusable after that. They're supposed to replace batteries, and they did so without a problem the first time after sending pics. The second time, they gave me trouble and tried to say I already got a free battery. But, this was a different battery with a different proof of purchase and different pics. They finally gave me the 2nd free battery, but I haven't even contacted them about the other two.

I never had any problems with the Hero 5. I would run it for 12 hours in the middle of summer with 3rd party batteries.

Unless you don't plan on recording for long periods in any kind of heat, or you forego batteries and keep it connected straight to a battery bank, I would stay away.

I use mine for kayak fishing. I lost my Hero 5 at the bottom if the lake. I replaced it with the Hero 8 and the Floaty, but I can't even use the Floaty due to it already overheating and shutting off after an hour on a hot day.

So 9 stabilization is similar to 10 and there is no shaking or any stabilization issues?

Yeah. 10 is better though. 9 had some issues with slow ui and slow touch screen

Yeah 5 was solid no issues other than a weak stabilization for mtb.
