I don't use a case that covers the phone, so it's not overheating. I know it's not my phone either. It practically useless for the one reason hat I bought it for. I also like smart devices, but I also couldn't find a good reason to have a smart clock besides verbally being able to set an alarm. I thought that I could've used this as a smart display, but it doesn't seem like there's a casting feature on this... so no youtube videos on this for me... at least not with the latest update.
Not completely hating on the clock, but if you're looking for wireless charging, I would advise against this. If others can give their experience, that would be helpful. It's possible that I did received a lemon, but for some reason, I don't think so. I think hat it's $20 - $30 for a reason.

Think of it as a picture frame.
It's similar to the Nest Hub.
The dimming is the same as well (I've seen complaints but it's the same as the Nest Hub).
