Math is hard. There's a reason why Apple is one of the most valuable companies in the world. People blindly swiping their credit cards without a second thought as to the actual price.

Not everyone has a phone surgically attached to them at all times.
And not all service plans have hotspot data. And as someone who has used a cellular iPad before, there's absolutely NO "extra line" being added to one's cell phone plan. It's a "prepaid" service.
So before you start bashing something you self-admittedly "never understood", figure it out before you open your mouth next time.
Yikes. I'm sorry you felt somehow attacked or unfairly 'bashed' by anything I said, I was simply sharing my own personal experience with countless friends and family.
I'm well aware that not all cell plans have hotspot data. However, I've encountered numerous people who have it on their plan (and even have several gigs a month or unlimited) and never even think to use it.
As far as your comment about how the data is paid for on the iPad itself… I'm well aware of prepaid being an option. (Although a rather ridiculous one unless you don't have any other service/devices with that carrier)
But most people add these to an existing cell package/family plan of data. I'm sure it varies between providers, but for example with AT&T it's like 20 bucks a month for unlimited data on an already existing Unlimited plan.
Again, I was originally speaking from my own experience and observation over years of iOS devices from family and friends. - It gets frustrating seeing people get talked into buying the expensive models by a local BB employee or local cellular salesman… when they 100% did not need it.
I had cellular on my og iPad mini, was useful only because I traveled a lot for work but honestly wouldn't have missed it if I didn't have it. $10 per month but WiFi is available almost everywhere now as well

Seriously started thinking goverment hirees try to push people on buying in order to cope with inflation and recession.
