For those that did not partake in this deal last time, there's also a boost in cashapp. It's not as good as the first time around, which I believe was $50 at the time if you bought the ipad through the app. The boost now is 4% of your total. The extra $50 off last time made this a much slicker deal, the 4% only saves you around $25.

I actually got screwed out of one of these iPads the last time due to a "technical issue". I received an email that said my order was ready for in-store pick up and then was immediately sent an email telling me my refund that I requested was on its way. I didn't request the refund or cancellation, so I complained via chat. They told me that they would make a note and that the next time the ipad was back in stock, they would give me the same discount (down to $549.99) minus $20 discount for the technical issue. The only issue is that I would not be able to get the same $50 boost via cashapp since it was now gone SMH. The extra $20 discount is helping to slightly ease the pain though

I would. I am in the same situation as you but for my parents. I picked up a pro and will return the air

Personally I would never spend this much for myself on a tablet, would much rather have a laptop for a similar price. I ordered the S7+ the other day from Wal Mart for $400 and it's legit my first tablet ever, but all I'd use it for is streaming NBA/ESPN and simple stuff like that, that I'd do on my phone otherwise.

With that said, I'm taking advantage of this deal and purchasing for my mum. I think that for older folks who don't know how to use a laptop/computer, an iPad/tablet is a no brainer. She uses an iPhone already so there's no learning curve, etc. Just a bigger screen basically. All she'd use it for is general use stuff like reading, music, etc.

For any sort of serious editing and stuff like that, I would stick with the laptop. But then again, many people would say if you're going to get an air for tasks like that... why not just spend a bit more and get a MPB? There's always going to be something in the next price range
I hear what you're saying, but my estimate was a conservatively low one. With a 256gb or a 512gb model then that will put these right in line with the prices of M1 Macbook Airs that we've seen on sale on SD before. I guess for someone using a barebones device without a keyboard, then maybe it's a good deal. I'm just thinking through the lens of a power user.

After the last deal I got to thinking pretty heavily about this deal…

Even the smallest version (128gb) still needs a keyboard for power users…

That means at least another $150 for kb. That's at least $700+ Total with tax. That's not far from the price of the macbook air. Those with the M1 chips I believe can even run iPadOS apps. I'm starting to think that maybe these iPads aren't worth it…
Man if MacBook would bring touchscreen it would help lol

Why not just get the regular iPad vs the pro for the non professional crowd? I'm trying to figure which model to get for my 7 year old. His current iPad is 4 years old and slow at times. He plays some Apple Arcade games, Roblox, and watches YouTube. Debating the pro too just so it might have a little longer shelf life but $550 is pretty expensive considering his current iPad was only like $250 on sale.

To all you dumdums, This is NOT slick. I told you last time when many shills were touting this as a once-in-a-lifetime "deal."
So if I'm in the market for an iPad right now what should I get? I don't want to be a dumdum.

Double the storage and refresh rate alone for $100 more is worth it in my book

Because they're all garbage that's a ticking time bomb to the landfill. I've used the official keyboards on old ipads and they've damn near outlasted the ipad itself. They're built incredibly well and the cheap stuff is comparatively just a joke.

Also something worth mentioning

iPadOS 16.2 update was released yesterday which brought external display support for iPads with M-series processors
