The thing people will ding you on for this is that that Champion is not an inverter generator where this is. I have ran computers, tvs, fridges, etc on generators for a long time and never had an issue (as many many people have for decades) but given the same or close cost i'd go with an inverter generator.

If you can use a gas generator this kicks the crap out of all the $XXX-XXXX battery inverter deals. This plus a 5 gallon tank of gas is less than $250 has more than 25.0kwh of juice, where the $400 ecoflow batteries in some other threads that are highly rated have 0.75kwh of potential before needing to be recharged.

The trade off is that you have to spend 15 minutes changing the oil once a year or after long use periods and it needs to be outside ( not good for apartments etc ) .

I don't disagree but in certain situation you need more than 2k watts. Many people still say that even with an inverter generator you shouldn't use it on todays modern electronics (I'm not in that camp) because it will shorten their lifespan. If I have an emergency I'd use either one.

One persons experience and some older reviews does not make it so. Many of these generators are made by the same companies in the same factories. All I meant was for only $82. off it was not the greatest SD and you try and not purchase a gen just because of a small discount...unless you need to. We have many small gens and always ending up using a larger one, which is a larger full featured Westinghouse inverter that we got on a previous SD (I think) and found a floor model priced not much more than this gen. A lot of questions are about if this will run a fridge or other large appliance, it might run it but just barely.IMHO, just buy one that you are sure will run what you need with a little left over for comfort. Also...why are there so many referbs, what went wrong with them?? Sometimes it's better to get a referb because they may have fixed a problem that a new one will have down the road.

Well, Costco switched from being a Champion dealer to a Firman dealer for a reason, and Costco has the most at stake with it's overly generous return policy. The "built in the same factory" is as silly as "baked in the same oven", Just because I roast $200 of wagyu beef in the same oven as a $20 bottom round roast doesn't mean it's the same. It all comes down to the design and material specifications of the generator given to the factory to produce. TTI tools makes Ryobi and Milwaukee, they purposely created different brand names to denote the difference in quality even though they are produced by the same company at the same factory, the difference being one brand uses significantly cheaper components than the other.

Can't argue with the concerns over the max wattage. The large number of refurbs could be related to Costco being a dealer and it's generous return policy.

Yeah for sure there are scenarios when more than 2kw is needed, these are also generally way more efficient and quiet ( if that matters ).I'd guess 2kw for many will be enough you can run a fridge + some lighting + fan + charge stuff.

I will say that the non-inverter generators don't work well on things like microwaves, ups units ( they beep and complain about unclean power the whole time), fans, and other electronics where the inverter ones are pretty solid.

Got my FedEx tracking number this morning. Ordered on the 15th.

Update: It just came in about a half hour ago. A little scuffed on the exterior but like new inside. Generator only. No accessories....Runs great!
