Oh really. So if I hung these around the perimeter of a 20x20 ft ice rink it won't illuminate it enough to see at night. I'm not talking illuminate like a stadium, but for kids to skate.

Look at the specs -- 1 light every 3 ft. That alone is a red flag.
Question:
Is the control box weatherproof?
Answer:
The control box of these RGBW outdoor string lights is weatherproof. The adapter is not weatherproof. At present, among the adapter-powered light strips on the market, the adapters are all not waterproof.

These are the kind of products you really don't know until you order them and set it up. Thankfully, Amazon allows people to upload photos and videos along with their review so you can try and get a good idea of how well these will illuminate. With one set, you should be able to adequately hang these around the skating rink.
Attached are a few photos I saw in the reviews that may give you an idea of how bright these are:
Also, I see a lot of reviews about this product's claims of being waterproof. It seems most of them recommended some remedy for protecting the power supply (which is not waterproof) against the elements: weatherproof box, flexitape, etc..

Nah, I set it up on my deck that's about the same size. When it's set to white it can be used as a supplement light source, wouldn't be bright enough by itself. And when it's set to a color like blue or red, it's a lot worse.

Thanks. I have a spotlight that half covers the rink but can't aim it over far enough. So maybe it would give it that little extra. Still sounds like a no go.
I ordered and returned these but went with the 50ft G40 bulb version from Govee since that has a bulb every 2 ft or so. It's a little more expensive, but I find them bright enough for illumination - not floodlight bright though (and a tiny bit less bright than regular non-cloudy G40 warm-white bulbs with no smart capabilities). I'm still only using it as a color-light set for Christmas / holidays and it's nice enough.
I also ended up getting my more permanent solution. Govee's 100ft permanent outdoor light with the LED pucks. I only needed 2 sets but I ended up with 3 coming cos I was trying to grab them when they came in stock. Probably send back one set or sell it. Those are on a different level of brightness! Eye-searing if you look at them, and they'll wash your house-side in light plenty. If you're looking for that kind of brightness, these 30-bulb ones are not it.
That said, I have a love-hate relationship with their app. It's extremely rich-featured in what it can or cannot do. However, I hate that, to get to its features is a real pain in the backside. The DIY section is a minimal and cluster-f*** DIY section. The real power in what you can do only shows up in the "Workshop" section - and to access and edit those you need an LED strip set to link the app to because the string lights cannot use the Workshop. Once you edit and do all that, you can save those DIYs in the workshop and come back and access them in the String Lights. They really make you work hard if you wanna edit the dynamic patterns to your convenience. Easier with LED strip lights / permanent outdoor lights.

Do you have a link for the Govee's 100ft permanent outdoor light with the LED pucks?

I managed to snag 3 but I only really need 2. Unfortunately out of stock most of the time and you end up having to use either the Inventory Bot app or HotStock app for notifications when it comes in stock on Amazon to grab them quick before everyone else does. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

Govee themselves only has it in stock very sporadically - https://us.govee.com/collections/...oor-lights
People seem to be going nuts and overpaying for them 2x (and they're a fair steal at $300 for what they can do) on ebay and other places.
